Officials from Bordeaux have confirmed that Gourcuff is set to leave the club for Lyon. Gourcuff came to Bordeaux in 2008 but played on loan back then. On loan, the player had 37 appearances in which he scored 12 times.
In 2009, Bordeaux bought the player and after a season in which he had 32 appearances and 6 goals, they are now selling him to Lyon.

They also confirmed that the club will not be affected much by the transfer and the club can very well be considered in the title race for the Ligue title. Last season they finished 6th though.
The officials stated, “The club will have the opportunity to communicate very soon and to reaffirm its ambitions for the new season.”
Lyon on the other hand a pretty good season and finished at 2nd position at the end of the season.
In the transfer deal, a total of 22 million Euros will be given to Bordeaux till the December of 2012. The payment will be made in 3 instalments and there is an additional amount of 4.5 million Euros to be paid in case the play maker is sold.
