Question:

Food For Thought: Cats & Dogs?

I mean this in all seriousness.

Has anyone in here ever eaten cat or dog meat knowingly?

If so, how does it taste.

I must qualify that I could never eat a cat or a dog, but I do not judge you as I do eat cows and pigs afterall.

I only wish to know how it taste for purely curiousity reasons, so please do not remove this question Yahoo because the spirit of this question is genuine and would be of interest to me and at least some others.

Thank you.

  1. yah~ dog tastes like chicken

i dont think vietnamese eat cat( female dont ) Man eat cat , they often gather, drink beer. The custom that when man drinks alcohol, must be food go along with it( it is hard to explain in english) =(.Cat meat probably wont taste as good as dog

  2. My friend visits her family in Asia sometimes, and they eat dog at a restaurant. She's said it tastes like "sweeter chicken". Sweeter than what, she could not say lol

  3. I'm from Vietnam. Well, I don't eat cat or dog meat, but for once somebody tricked me by letting me eat some dog meat which he told it was pork. I didn't know it wasn't, but after the first taste, I vomited because of the distinct flavor. Very strong indeed. I think it's like pigeon meat, with stronger smell. But then, I tasted pigeon meat only twice so I can't be too sure.

And cat? Well, no. Never tried, never will.

(it's not for your question, but in case you really WANT to know what it is like without tasting REAL dog meat, there is a dish in Vietnam which is made from pork but flavored like dog meat, you can ask it like this "gio heo gia cay" in Vietnamese and somebody would be willing to let you try some :-)

  4. It tastes like human infant.

Seriously - we do exterminate a lot of unwanted cats and dogs (and other animals) each year at shelters.  Couldn't we feed these pets to the hungry and homeless?

  5. I ate a bit of barbecued dog in Hanoi.  It tasted kind of like pork, kind of like chicken.

When barbecued, they kind of look like skinny pigs.  Except that their tails aren't curly.

  6. I just came back from Vietnam and I have not personally eaten dog or cat meat but, my cousin who went back recently and was first tricked into eating it, then asked for it all of the time.  She said that dog meat is delicious, much leaner than any types of meat that we are used to eating (pork, beef, chicken, etc.)  Even knowing what she said and seeing the dogs roasted and hung up on the streets as you would see peking ducks or soy chickens in the chinese restaurants here, i do not have the courage to try.

  7. no

  8. Nope.
