Question:

Food Ideas for B-day party?

My daughter is turning 4 and I'm having her b-day party at my brothers house. There won't be too many people, in fact only family will be there. I just don't want to do the usual hamburgers & hot dogs and need Ideas! Everyone will be both indoors and outdoors (swimming) so we can prepare inside foods and grill if necessary. Any ideas?

  1. Pizza or Subway has those cool big-ol-sandwiches

And get a bunch of appetizers, fruit, dips. yumm i'm hungry now.

  2. kraft.com has this homemade ice cream cake...made with ice cream sandwiches and oreos. it's amazing and alot cheaper than buying on ea thte store.

  3. well, i just went to a little girls 3rd birthday party last week,

and the food was mostly fruit, crackers&cheese, cake, fruit punch, and they had 3 types of sandwiches.

It doesn't really matter what kind of food, just make sure all of guests can eat it.

chips & salsa or cheese is a plus, because most people like it.

:) happy birthday to you daughter.

  4. finger foods--mozzerella stix, pizza rolls, chicken fingers, taquitos, chips w/ dip, cheese tray, fruit tray, for appetizers and then for the actual meal you could do pulled pork/barbecue or kabob something and wrap diced potatoes in foil with olive oil and seasoning for a side. yumyumyum

  5. I have a 5 year old and she loves pizza and hotdogs.  Cant go wrong with either one.  Kids also love french fries.  I would say add those and cake and ice cream and you will be fine.  4 and 5 year olds are easy to please.  It's the family and parents you need to be concerned about!  Hope this helps

  6. i know u dont want to do burgers but those mini burgers are always good. small, so they're nice. ooh. also watermelon.

  7. depends if you want simple/easy or detailed and a lot

if you don't mind preparing and cooking, grill and smoke a couple of whole chickens, make potato salad with corn or macaroni and cheese with biscuits

if not, make small triangle cater sandwiches, buy chips and dips and have fruit bowls

happy birthday to your daughter =) and enjoy the party

  8. I am a Harry Potter fan, and at all the release parties they always have Pretzel Wands. This could be a princess wand, though, and you could theme it to go with it! Just a bit of pink here and there. Pretzel Wands are simply pretzel sticks dipped in icing (maybe pink?) and covered in sprinkles.

Everyone loves cupcakes. I would make marble cupcakes because everyone I know always argues over chocolate or vanilla.

    When in doubt...pizza!!!

I'm attaching a link to party foods that Food Network recommends. =)

  15. fruit bowls!!

  16. Kids love spaghetti and fried chicken.  you can also have some pizza on the side.

  17. Everyone loves a nice slice of Monk-fish.  Serve it with walnuts on a bed of red lettuce.  For sides, you can't go wrong with bock choi and creamed spinach.

I can't think of a single 4 year old who doesn't cry when they find out creamed spinach is not on the menu.

Dessert: Apple slices (skin on) in maple syrup with a pinch of parsley.  Skip the cake...the apples will wow 'em.

OK, I'm kidding.  Have your child's fav. place cater the party.  It's her day!
