Question:

Food and misc costs in Ireland?

My wife and I found a really good deal on a trip to Ireland. But, it is during the offseason. according to weather websites, temperature will likely be between 40-45F with a good amount of rain but little to no snow. Is this accurate? We are also curious as to how much food and beer costs at a moderately priced restaurant. We are guessing these costs may be a bit high because of the pound to dollar conversion. Thanks a lot for the help.

  1. We'd probably need to know which part of Ireland you're going to to answer your question fully.

Okay restaurant - 3 course meal excluding wine, per person - 30euro.

Good restaurant - 3 course meal  excluding wine, per person - 50euro.

We also have cafes etc where you can get a main course for around 9euro.

A pint - between 4 and 5 euro or so will definately cover you.

Small bottle of wine - around 5 euro.

Bottle of wine in restaurant - 14-30euro.

While the temperature may seem low, it doesn't be absolutely freezing, you'll be cosy enough in a jumper and rainjacket, and our rain isn't full pelt like European rain, but fairly light.

Also we have euros here, not pounds sterling - unless you are going to northern ireland (their currency is pounds sterling). northern ireland is alot cheaper for food and beer.

  2. You do realise that in Ireland the currency is the euro, don't you?

    Ireland is very very expensive.

And yea, the weather will be shite.
