Question:

Food for my Blue Tongued Skink?

I know what to feed him, so I don't need anyone giving me a list of things. Thanks, though! If I shred his vegetables, fruits, and protein substances together will he still get the vitamins(i have the powder, too) and everything else he needs? When I separate them he will NOT touch the veges and fruits, just the meat/protein substance.

So would shredding them all together be okay?

  1. Yes, chopping them fine and mixing together is a good idea.  More helpful tips here:

  2. Sounds like what I have to do with Yura. Make sure yours is getting a very diversified diet cause mine had problems with a vitamin A & C deficiency. The vet told me to feed him tomatoes (good in vit c), and a pinkie or hopper once a week. I also feed a spoonful or two of cat food (vet says it's ok and better than dog food) once a week. That's in addition to all the greens, worms, and crickets he gets, he and my monitor are a little spoiled by getting small chunks of meat that we eat.

  3. Yeah, I have the same problem. What I am used to doing is mixing up the veggie and protien parts together into a sort of salad. Fruits are more of a treat, but I sometimes ad some fruit in there as well. Make sure you have suitable sized pieces.

My favourite food for mine is a frozen mix of half cooked lean chicken breast, and half two or more greens (usually one dark and one light green veggie). I make batches of this, and freeze it. Any other veggies and fruits I toss in fresh and change these around so they don't get boring.
