  1. Yes you can but stick to the guidelines. They will need to be kept chilled, or at least in a cool place.

  2. As long as you keep it at least 140 F.  The health department recommends keeping hot foods hot and cold foods cold.  6 hours is WAY too long.  You can cool these foods down and then take them to school.  You can buy ice gel packs that will keep your food cold in your lunch box.  You can buy these at Wal-mart.  Heat the food in the microwave when you get to school.

  3. make food that are easy to make like instant foods or just a sandwich

  4. i dont know about oatmeal but my friend has a thermos that she takes like leftovers from dinner or whatever to school in.

  5. oatmeal is usually eaten as soon as it it prepared.  It tends to turn to mush after a while.  It would need to be kept hot.  not easy if you are a student. chicken keeps well if it is kept really cold. If you are going to take a meat it would be best to take a prepared sandwich meat as they are loaded with preservatives and intended to keep without spoiling for several hours.

  6. They have wide thermoses for hot food.  No, it would not be safe in a plastic container without refrigeration for 6 hours.
