Question:

Food for thought: tattoo acceptance in the future?

Just a little question cuz I'm bored.

Long hair on boys didn't used to be accepted, now not many peopel seem to have a problem with it. Same with girls and short hair.

Girls didn't used to be able to show their knees or any large amount of skin. Then the flappers came around. Now showing arms, ankles, knees, collar bone and whatnot is pretty normal.

Same with nail polish.

Even helix piercings (cartiledge). A single one is so common nowadays that people hardly seem to notice or consider it that much more intense than a regular lobe piercing.

Hardly any jobs prohibit he aforementioned things.

You think tattoos will ever be more commonly accepted? Not necessarily extensive tattoos but one or two on a person's arm or wrist. Will we ever be able to get a job without being judged as much?

I'm not sure what I think.

I'd love it if I was right,

what do you think?

  1. I wouldn't care whether anyone accepted a tat or not, it's up to you.  The only consideration is will it cost me a job.  Legally you can be excluded in some cases, Police etc.  But a person can turn you down for a job and give you another reason.

  2. The people that have tattoos now will grow old someday too. I guess the real question is will they have the same outlook on tattoos that they have now, and treat people accordingly? There are many elderly people that have tattoos, and many elderly people with different outlooks.

    It's just a big circle.

  3. What are you talking about? Everyone has tatoos in this generation, it's weird for someone NOT to have one now! Definitley there will be acceptance of these things as our generations get older, tatoos are nothing now, the only people who don't accept them are old and when they were young, tatoos weren't that common or were only found on people who had been in prison!

  4. I think that the "acceptance" of tattoos in the future would really mean more like just having to deal with it because nowadays everyone and their mother is out getting them. It kind of depends on what kinds of tattoos it is that you choose to put on your body.Every tattoo has a meaning or a memory but why would anyone go out and get a tattoo of the "F" word or the name of a gang they run with? my husband is covered with them and I hate to say that if I didn't know him, I'd think he did some hard time somewhere because of the tattoos he irresponsibly chose to get as a teen. But, yes, they're everywhere and I do see them being more common in the future. It's everyone's choice to like or dislike and to accept or unaccept.
