Food from the Maritimes?

Does anyone know anything about traditional foods from the Maritime provinces in Canada, or have any good website?

  3. That would depend on which part of the maritimes that you are refering to. In Nova Scotia there is a strong acadian ancestry. This would lead the food towards things such as rappie pie. As you travel towards The other end of Nova scotia towards cape Breton where there is a stong celtic orgin the food would reflect a scottish flare. This goes the same for all the maritime provinces. However with this said. With such a strong sea going heritage.  The more traditional foods to our area, would have a strong seafood influence. Not the fancy resturant type. This would be the stews and chowders. The smoked and salted fish which was used to preserve the fish over long periods of time. There is not a true maritimer who has not had a fish cake at one time or another. There was even a time when lobster was considerd the poor man's meal. One Web-site to visit is the "Taste of Nova Scotia."
