  1. I always take a thermos full of hot lintel soup, that doesn't have meat, and it warms you up, tastes delicious, and keeps your stomach happy for the whole day.

  2. power bars, maybe a peice of fruit. granola bars like quaker chewy bars

  3. Clif bars.  I would eat those will moutain biking, they are great.  And when you keep them in your pocket and they get a little warm, the ones with chocolate get a little melty and they are better.  A couple snacks like that, granola bars and such, on top of eating well before you go out will keep you skiing all day.

  4. I start the day with a big breakfast and can then ski and teach until noon, then a banana and some gorp will let me ski until 5 pm.  That is about 12 hours between breakfast and the end of the ski day.  Dinner is about 2-3 hours later.  I'm doing this 5 days a week and I'm slowly losing my energy roll around the middle.

A baked potatoe, wrapped in aluminum foil with soy bits and dressing will also help. One in your pocket can keep you warm on the real cold days.

  5. Umm.. Well I find there is great food on the slopes but if your not in a resort there does tend to be a lack of decent food. Sneaker bars, Mars bars, M&Ms' are all great! They give you lots of energy too! They are very easy to put in your jacket and pretty good for eating on a chair lift I find. Reeses peanut butter cups are also really good if you are going to America or Canada.

  6. I almost always keep a quart-sized ziploc bag full of trail mix in my pack if I am skiing at a big resort and will be away from the base lodge...otherwise I just keep it in my ski bag and go in to grab a snack when I get the munchies. I make it with a mix of cashews, brazil nuts, walnuts, dried cranberries, white raisins, shelled sunflower and pumpkin seeds. It's yummy and filling.

Most Clif and Luna bars are vegan. A Clif bar fits very well in the pocket of a ski jacket. One might not get you through the day if you burn a lot of calories so take a few. Buy them at a supermarket. I pay $1 a bar. If I buy one at the ski resort it's almost $2.50.

Some ski areas still allow guests to bring coolers into the lodge. If the one you visit allows this the you can bring in just about anything you want. Call the resort you plan to visit and ask them what their policy is on coolers.

  7. some granola bars would be great, carry a water back pack (cant think of the name of them). maybe even a protein bar

  8. Nature Valley granola bars are good for snacks.  They last years. Last month i ate one that i had in my ski bag for 3 years.

I always bring a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch when i ski alone during the week. When i ski with my dad, i pack a turkey sandwich and he brings potato chips. You can pack a salad in a plastic container.  you can bring anything that fits between two slices of bread. Grill some peppers the day before, put them in a sandwich on a roll with mozzarella or provolone cheese and salad dressing (theres a cafe on my campus that sell that and it is really good). You can pack anything in a plastic container that you don't have to reheat or don't mind eating cold. You can bring a wrap or sandwich that you can either make yourself or pick up at a deli on the way to the mountain.

Think of what ever you have for lunch on a normal day.  Put that in a container or plastic wrap.

-A pita or wrap with hummus, olives, and roasted peppers.

    -peanut butter and jelly

-a salad with cheese and/or tofu and/or edamame

-cheese tomato mayonnaise romaine lettuce sandwich

-roasted red pepper and cheese sandwich with salad dressing

-grilled portabella mushrooms, red peppers, mozzarella cheese balsamic vinegar, stuff to make it yummy sandwich.

if you are concerned about bread getting soggy, pack the contents of the sandwich in a small container and the bread in

    a baggy.

It is not good to ski on an empty stomach.  After skiing for 4 hours i get tired because i need more food.  I go inside, eat food, then ski for another 2 hours until they close. I always keep a nature valley granola bar in my ski bag.

Sometimes a peanut butter and jelly sandwich satisfies, but sometimes i need more.  If i ski a whole day, i usually need more than the peanut butter and jelly, but I only ski 4 hours, then that satisfies, and is sometimes more than i need.  Make sure you eat breakfast before you ski.  I always have a bowl of cereal before i leave my room, takes an hour to get to the mountain, ski for 4 hours eat lunch, then ski until close.
