  1. More local farms are going under.  We now have to ship food long distance.  Gas prices went up, supply slightly decreased and wages went up.  Add to that the environment regulations that have added cost and the bacteria invading the food supplies contributing to cost to treat, recall and pay when they are sued.  It was only a matter of time before these additional costs would be passed on to the consumer.  The perfect formula for a major hike.

Who is to blame?  We are.  We want safer, bigger, better, faster and it all comes at a price.

  2. The hand of satan is sweeping this world once more! When the poorer nations can't afford to feed themselves it begins, and you can see it spread to the richer nations! The level of corruption is reaching new heights! More are being pulled into the mass conspiracy! It will continue to spread until it triggers a world war and eventually burns itself out once again! Should we pity the survivors or the those that will pass into the next realm?

  3. Ethanol (made from corn in the USA) and the price of oil....the farmers and the oil men are doing just great...the oil men are being taxed but the farmers are getting free money from the government.

  4. I say we are.

Too many modes of alternate transportation available and enough food stuff within the surrounding 100 kilometre radius to be shipping our food from California, or British Columbia, or Florida, or Israel, or Brazil, or Mexico.

We ourselves are at fault. We refuse to change and the status quo is the norm. Until we as a whole make a dramatic change in our attitudes towards our comforts and our foodstuff, the big suits in the oil industry will only be too happy to supply us. We pay the price for transporting all these things and it's more than just money, or the cost of shipping tomato's to Eastern Canada from Western United States.

  5. I think it was the rising gas prices and the floods in the Midwest.

  6. You didn't want Mexicans coming across the border. Who did you think picked all the fruits and veggies? Cost of transportation is up. Opec takes their cut. Farmers grew a disproportionate amount of corn and soy for flex fuels. All of Washington's stupidity is going to haunt us. Bush didn't raise taxes but we will wish he had. Now the poor and middle class can pay for everything they did wrong.

  7. Why are you looking for someone to blame?
