I have sort of been nutty about my son's nutrition. He's never had white bread or refined sugar or processed food or red meat or white rice. Now he's starting school. What's going to happen with lunch time?

  1. Give him a lunch bag full of yummy healthy food that he likes!! Do not give him anything that he might not like because he might be tempted to eat some school junk food. School food is really bad!!

  2. send him to school with lunch unless you want him to get a taste of beef patties and pepperoni pizzas

  3. Why not find a compromise? When the school menu for the month comes home, let him pick something to eat off the menu once a week.  The other 4 days you can pack his lunch.  This way he can be like his peers and you can still provide him with plenty of nutrition.  Packing his lunch will also save you money.  Have you thought about what you are going to do about holiday parties, birthday parties, school picnics, etc? As he's growing up, it will be hard to let him go.

  4. just pack his lunch if your so conscious..but when you cant control what he eats as he gets older....thats only gonna lead to major problems, because once he tastes a bowl of white rice or a hamburger with chips...it'll be really hard for him im sure to stick with your guidelines...id say let him enjoy SMALL portions of the refined stuff to prevent future binges or obsessions...

  5. I recommend you packing his lunch because my son is in 1st grade now and he said they had only white bread and a lot of desserts to choose from at his school. They do have milk, but a lot of times it is expired. So if you want to make sure he gets the nutrition needed, pack his lunch.
