  1. just try protein bars or shakes.

  2. OK, actually, iron is important as well as protein now that you've started your period.  Beans, tofu, cottage cheese and yogurt all have protein.  Make sure you eat dark, leafy vegetables to get enough iron.

  7. try different cheeses and special k has awesome cereal, i like the vanilla almond, they also have protein bars and water the strawberry kiwi is good and so is the lemonade one, and slim fast has a lot of protein in their bars and shakes too and that will help you gain lean muscle.

If you really want to analyze individual foods, this website is a great guide to high protein foods:

  11. I pretty much live on tofu, its pretty flavorless, so you can flavor it to be almost anything. Beans have lots of protein, and I found a pasta called Barilla Plus, that is half bean, half wheat. It sounds gross, but it's really good, I didn't know it had beans in it for about a year until I read the ingredients.

  13. fish

    nuts

    qourn

    Toe nails etc

  14. Nuts, Beans, Cheese and Tofu. Make sure you put the tofu in a soup, sauce, smoothie or cook it with other flavors or else it will taste bland.

  15. Guess what? You also don't need to kill fish for protein. Pescetarians are not vegetarians.

Beans, nuts, lentils, and leafy green veggies are all great cruelty-free sources of protein.

  16. i heard you get all the proteins possible in rice and beans. so i guess you can eat that

  17. mushrooms are supposed to be the vegetarians meat  I think beans and lentil dishes are also high in iron and proteins. Have a good day from Sandy..Australia

  18. Beans and some legumes contain lots of protein.   So does tofu.

You need extra iron in your diet now that you menstruate. Take a supplement.

  19. First of all, there's no such thing as pesco-vegetarian; it's a contradiction in terms.  Vegetarians do not eat fish or any other sea creatures.

Now, about protein.  The problem is not getting enough protein, the problem is most people get too much protein.  As long as you eat enough food, and you don't eat mostly junk food, you're getting enough protein.  Ask your doctor if s/he's ever treated a case of protein deficiency.  In fact, too much protein causes you to lose calcium, something you do not want.

Beans, nuts, tofu, tempeh, seitan are all good sources of protein.

As someone pointed out, iron is a concern.  Greens, beans, blackstrap molasses and dried fruits are good sources.  Make sure you eat lots of foods rich in vitamin C to help absorption.

  20. Hey, I asked a question like this a few weeks ago & got some really good replies, here's the link to it! I don't eat fish & there was lots of good suggestions for me!

good luck & hope it helps! :)

  21. You're a pescetarian, not a vegetarian.  Vegetarians don't eat fish...pescetarians do.  I don't care if you block me.  I am only telling you the truth.

Fish has plenty of protein.  You really don't have to worry.

  22. Hmm...okay, I guess chicken is out for you then, too.  :)  Do you like fish?  Fish has a lot of protein and so do soybeans (which are fabulous in a salad) and most beans (chick peas, red beans, etc.)  What you can do, if I may suggest, check out the Weight Watchers website (not suggesting you need it), but you can get a lot of good protein ideas from there since you seem to be a vegetarian.  Hope this helps!

Modified to add:  oh, excuse me, I got a thumbs down, apparently someone didn't like my answer.  Get over it.

  23. Vegetarian sources of protein that are complete (i.e. have all the essential amino acids in them) are rare, though research shows you can get enough through eating a variety of vegetarian foods. Tofu, tempeh, miso and other soy products, ans spirulina, have complete proteins.

Other sources of protein can be combined (though it doesn't actually have to be at one meal, as new research shows ... I find it easy and natural when cooking to do so, and it adds more for flavour and variety) to give you a complete protein intake:

Combine 2 or 3:   grains, pulses (beans & legumes), nuts & seeds

Examples:  corn tacos with chilli beans,  lentil & rice curry,  almond butter on toast

  24. im a veg too :)

there are lots of other sources of protien

get special K with protien plus. it has 10 grams of protein per 1/2 cup serving size and its kinda plain, but pretty good u can mix berries or something with it if it bores u. beans are also great. have black beans as a side dish with ur dinner. and there are lots of good protien shakes

nuts are also great. i like to mix vanilla nonfat yogurt (also high in protien) with bananas and walnuts. its SO good. and almonds are a good snack

  25. just to let you know, it is going to be very difficult to get proper nutrition without eating meat. i knew a vegetarian who got sick b/c well something to do with being a vegetarian. she had to learn to cook meat. good luck. i would not advise you cut out all meat. How do you feel about fish for example? then of course there is all of the legumes, beans, and whey protein. no idea what a pesco vegetarian is, sorry.

  26. Beans, potatoes, seafood, and soy.

  27. fish is high in prtein depends wat vegetarian you are though.

  28. Peanuts and Almonds are the highest protein substitute other than meats

  29. Dried fruit, nuts, seeds, beans, dark vegetables.

  30. Kale, spinach, tofu, beans.

    Just to name a few.
