I have a very bad sore throat. I cant eat solid foods and if its hot it burns. When i think about certain foods that i could be eating they dont sound appetizing at alllll. foods like... chicken soup, popsicles, tea, jello/pudding all sound really gross and make me nauseous when i think about eating them. any suggestions besides the normal sick foods that i might be able to eat?

  1. Potato and pasta salads are soft. As are potato bakes. Eggs mashed with mayo are nice. Avacado on soft bread might be nice. Smoothies with milk, bananas, honey, and chocolate.

  2. I no how u feel had strep throat and no appetite. My advice is to eat crackers and let them get soft before you swallow and I always put tons of butter on. Cheesys like puffs or cheesy twist are good to but let them start to desolve in your mouth. Bye your favorit drink u barly get or gatorade, poweradeVitamin water

  3. just drink a lot of cold water

  4. You might find those foods you don't like to be a big help.  Warm chicken soup on parched sore throat feels great.  Maybe just go with chicken or vegetable broth.  The pudding might also just feel good on your throat.  I find ice cream is great for a sore throat, but it's not a good idea for other reasons.

Meanwhile, chewing gum keeps your throat constantly bathed and that should offer some relief.  Also, try those breath freshener strips, and perhaps a cup of not-quite-hot chocolate.  If you're not a fan of mentholated throat lozenges, I also find simple hard candies do the trick.  Might try some asperin or Ibuprofen.

  5. cold and hot

    cold-numb the throat

    hot-soothe the throat

  6. soup soup more soup . Its the salt.  gargle30 seconds with warm warm  salt water.  baby aspirin also calms the throat inflammation.  Crackers in yes, SOUP

  7. Simply anything liquid and either cold or hot will help your throat feel better. Hot tea with lemon and honey really helps to heal your throat. The hot tea is soothing to your throat, the lemon acts as an antiseptic (promotes healing) and the honey, coats your throat and is a disinfectant and antiseptic. You obviously need to eat so try for softer foods to consume such as eggs, oatmeal, soup, fruits, ice cream or anything along those lines.

  8. it probably won't fill you up but you can suck on ice cubes to make your throat feel better, it doesn't have the nauseating taste of a popsicle but does the same thing!

  9. mac and cheese, scrambled eggs, Slurpee's, you've already listed all that I can think of really I've felt your pain....Hope you feel better soon!!!

  10. I drink a lot of iced tea..it helps. You said you didn't like tea though. Try taking some sore throat medicine. I always take childrens tylonal Cold and Sore Throat (I have no idea why I have to take childrens, but my doctor told me to). It always makes me feel better. Just make sure you have time to sleep though, it will make you tired.

  11. What about fruit smoothies? Or you might want to try something with ginger to help with your nausea.

  12. I think the best foods you can eat or drink when you are down is fruit smoothies, You can also have vegetable smoothies also.

  13. The things that always work for me are:

Mashed potatoes (cooled off a bit). Nice, soft, delicious & filling.

    Milk

Sherbert (instead of ice cream - non-dairy)

Peaches or Pears (the canned kind, in juice), or bananas

    Apple juice

Pancakes or French Toast with syrup

Hot cereal, like Cream of Wheat or Oatmeal

Make sure to stay away from acidic foods, like tomato based products, pineapples, orange juice, etc. These will only irritate your throat further.

Good luck to you & feel better!
