Question:

Fool proof ways to fall asleep early?

I would like to be asleep by 10 but I find I don't get nearly tired enough to sit still long enough to fall asleep untill 10:30 meaning I fall asleep at 11.

I do feel tired through out the day but after 9 I feel energized again.

Are there any fool proof ways to fall asleep besides the classic, warm milk, lavender on your pillow and counting sheep?Any tricks your mothers pulled? Anything!?!

  1. Try eating some ice cream before going to bed, that's what i do sometimes. There is l 'tryptophan that you can take or ashwanghanda...I would still eat the ice cream though!

    Magnesium powdered fizzy drinks

    L' theanine

    passionflower

    kava kava

    chamomile

lavender tea if you can find it.

but don't take too many different things at one time. Go to the health food store and ask for suggestions on what to take or ask a naturopath.

I recommend a hot bath with lavender essential oil with a base oil), then take some ashwaghanda and a bowl of ice cream. read a good book or something to read to distract you from trying to go to sleep(don't use the television) and just read until your body starts to warm up, wind down and relax itself. I sometimes just take lavender oil and place a few drops in the palm of my hand or a tissue and just sniff it to relax me.

  2. Don't leave bright lights on. Your brain creates melatonin which stimulates sleep in response to darkness, so you'll feel more awake if you have bright lights on.

As far as herbal remedies go, valerian isn't bad at helping you feel sleepy but it's hardly foolproof.

  3. sleeping pills...

  4. God, You're lucky! If you get tired during the day, just take time, many times to go outside and get some sun. If you don't have a garden, just tale a walk and pick weeds (as long as you recognize weeds). Water something, give it life. Take a housplant outside, enjoy the sun with it, water it and do something acive in the sun, no matter how hot it is. The sun provides sustaining life and can help drain you of your night-time blues.

  5. Well depends on the lengths you want to go

If you can get a doctor to prescribe a sleep-aid(which isn't very difficult to convince them to do) then Ambien will put you into a dead sleep about 15 minutes after you take it, and with enough sleep(7-8 hrs) you'll feel fully rested when you wake up, the only word of caution is that it's very easy for your body to become dependent on sleep aids when taken for extended periods of time, so in the event you run out or you just don't feel like you need to take them anymore, it becomes incredibly difficult to fall asleep without them, but it just depends on what getting a good night's sleep is worth to you if you're willing to take the risk

But then there are the more traditional methods like herbal teas etc., if none of those work then I would suggest maybe looking into a sleep aid, some peoples sleep patterns are just irregular(me) so it makes it more difficult to fall asleep at regular times and homeopathic remedies can do little to solve that kind of problem,  if your not a prescription kind of person maybe look into a more natural sleep aid such as melatonin, the results aren't quite so drastic but the chances of your body becoming dependent are much lower.
