I'm going to be a Freshman at Pennsbury High School. I am about 5'7-5'8 140 lbs i ran a 40 yard dash in about 5.6 or 5.7 this Past year I played TE i was mostly used for receiving. For the upcoming year I have decided to play WR. I don't know if this is a good decision, but i mostly posted this question to find out how to increase my foot speed if any body has any helpful drills. If any of disagree with my thought please share your opinion it would help.

  1. I think that it was a good move moving to receiver. 5'7, 140 is a receiver build.

If you are looking to increase your speed, try doing the most basic football drill there is. Lay the cones down at different distances. Try 10 yards first, then 20, then 30. Run back and forth touching them as you go. It will not only help your speed, but also your agility and your explosiveness, two key skills for receivers.

Also, if you want to work your speed in regards to long-distance, try the mile or two mile on a hot day. Nothing better than that to prepare you for that 80 yard catch wearing lots of padding.
