So- what's the actual rule for jump serving and foot faulting? If you take off before the line, but contact the ball past the line is that okay?

  1. As long as you dont touch the line when you jump up you can land anywhere you want.  Its actually easier to get a good serve in if you have your momentum going over the line.

  2. Yes that is legal.  The foot fault is judged by the last contact with the court.

You can not touch the line before your jump.  Or touch the line before any serve.  It does not matter where you contact the ball as long as you have not touched the line.  A good jump server is about 10 feet in front of the line when they contact the ball.

  3. yah if you jump before the line hit the ball and come down past the line that is alright

  4. Yes, it is okay.

You can be anywhere when you are in the air, as long as you take off behind the base line. After contacting the ball, you can land wherever you want ... wait, don't fly over the net :)

  5. As long as your foot does not touch the line before the balls leaves your hitting hand you are good to go! I jump serve and land like 5 feet inside the line after I hit the ball in the air. So if you are on the ground stay behind it, if you are in the air jump over it while hitting the ball in the air.
