Foot injury: Cincinnati Bengals centre Kyle Cook sees season in doubts – NFL News
Cincinnati Bengals centre Kyle Cook admits doubts around the possibility of his availability for the rest of the season due to a foot injury, which an MRI scan reveals to be of a serious nature and will require a longer period to heal.
Kyle was injured in the Bengals’ last preseason game but initially he took the problem lightly. He has now found out it is a severe injury and can possibly put this season on line for him.
The player said:
"Obviously I'm not going to play in this game (Thursday at Indianapolis) and my status is unclear as far as the year goes."
The possible ousting for the rest of the season will be another unfortunate development for the player. He already missed the entire past season with a dislocated toe. Although he rues the occurrence of the problem again, he says it is a part of the game.
He said:
"That was a fluke thing too. That was a dislocated toe that ended up keeping me out for the whole year and to tell you the truth that felt a lot worse than this feels. So it's just one of those things. You play football, things get bent, broken, bruised,
just a part of the game."
Kyle was injured when a defender fell on his leg and ankle. He did not take option of the scans immediately after the incident and in fact ignored it altogether on hopes it was not a serious scare.
The results of the scans have now subdued his mood and also chances of playing this season. He can certainly be out of the team for half of the season as a minimum time period he can spend on the recovery and regaining of fitness.
In that case he is more likely to be placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, a workable arrangement for both sides.
Rookie Trevor Robinson is a likely replacement at his position as the Bengals have tried him out at the centre position during training camp. It will be difficult for Trevor to fill in for Kyle effectively but apparently there is no other option in front
of the Bengals at the moment.
