Foot injury: Jacksonville Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey says safety Dwight Lowery out – NFL News
Coach Mike Mularkey has confirmed that the Jacksonville Jaguars will be without safety Dwight Lowery because of a foot injury that requires the player a few weeks for the recovery and rehab.
The player got hurt in the Jaguars’ game last weekend and later MRI scans showed his is a serious injury and will require him to be on the sidelines for recovery and rehab.
According to the coach, second-year safety Chris Prosinski will start at his position in the next game on the weekend after this one given the team do not have to play this Sunday because of the bye week.
The coach did not elaborate exact timeline of his possible return to action but it could be either game versus the Oakland Raiders on Oct. 21 or against the Green Bay Packers which is due in the week after Oakland’s game.
He is confident of the rookie’s replacement that he will perform better on the starting line, which happens to be a rare opportunity for the player. The coach has backed him to capitalise on the opportunity to full extent and prove his credentials as a starter.
The Jaguars’ standing in the American Football Conference (AFC) South division is 1-4 as the team have been struggling to come out of the persistent gloom but nothing has worked to their way so far.
With a number of injury blows, the team stands affected and as the coach hopes it would be a great effort if they survived the absence of so many players to injuries against abovementioned two main oppositions.
The Jaguars have remained blow the mark so far at both defensive and offensive positions. The failing of second-year quarterback Blaine Gabbert is particularly rueful for the team which saw introduction of new staff earlier this year in hopes of a strong
comeback this season.
Mularkey who is in first year of coaching career with the team is baffled to see the players succumbing to pressure during each game, allowing too many easy opportunities to their opponents and hurt their victory chances.
