Question:

Foot on floor rule, Pool, Amputee!?

Hi, I lost my left leg, below the knee, in Iraq last year. I used to play pool often and now that my rehab is over, I'd like to take it up again. Problem is, I'm not sure whether or not I'm allowed to have my prosthetic leg on the ground in place of a real one? I mean, can I just bring my amputated leg and set it down?

  1. It seems, looking at the world standardized rules, that the amputated limb does count as a foot. The prosthetic does not however count as a foot as it is considered over-sized footwear.

  2. I like your sense of humor.  But if you plan on playing with picky players, you'd better keep the prosthesis attached to your body.  As long as that's the case than the foot on floor rule should apply to your prosthetic foot as well as your real one.

  3. I think you'll find shooting pool is safer than shooting guns(what, bad taste, sorry) anyway it should be no problem using the prosthetic as a foot on floor, I mean in all reality that's your foot now, right.  Wheelchair players use a wheel as an extension of their body and they don't need a foot on the floor.

Sorry about your leg, good luck with pool and welcome back.

  4. At first I didnt know if it was a serious question .But of course not it would not matter

By the way THANKS & WELCOME HOME

  5. ha....no i dont think it will be a problem, just let whoever you are playing know before you start. if they have a problem with it then dont play them.

  6. If anyone gives you guff about it, it's proper pool etiquette to crack him in the face with the butt of your cue.

  7. I have a good friend who had a wreck and lost a leg and arm he now players pool a lot real good player play es in a lot of tourments wheel chair and regular the same question comes up with him all the time and his answer is that the chair is an extension of his body any one who play es with disabilities such as this and the one you have it should not even be a issue good luck keep playing and like johnny said thanks for your service my son just got back from there

  8. sorry bout ur leg....  think the spirt of the rule is no laying across the table or siting on the rails to make shots
