Football: A.C. Milan’s Ronaldinho expected to stay, Maicon expected to join Real Madrid
A.C. Milan legendary attacker, Ronaldinho is expected to stay with the Italian giants, according to his brother and agent Roberto de Assis. Assis snubbed claims about Ronaldinho’s departure to Brazilian club Flamengo.
The Milan attacker has been strongly linked to a move away from San Siro this season, with the Brazilian expected to join Flamengo. Ronaldinho has only spent 2 years with the Rossoneri, after signing from Barcelona.
Despite the transfer rumours and extreme speculations, Milan has denied a move for the trickster, and now his agent has also confirmed that the player will not leave San siro this season. Roberto, however, did confirm that Ronaldinho has expressed his motive to play for Flamengo, at some stage of his remaining career.
"To the question that should Dinho like to one day to play with Flamengo, the answer is yes", stated Ronaldinho’s agent and brother. Roberto added that it was however nothing but a dream for the 30-year old and claimed that he had no contact with the club and also didn’t have the intention to do so. He confessed that Milan is prepared to extend the Brazilian’s contract until 2013, and agreed to hold talks by December. However, he was stern about the commitment for the coming season.
Assis added, that Ronaldinho’s relationship with A.C. Milan is a positive one, and the Brazilian stands at the same position he was at two months ago, which was that he wants to remain with the Italians. It is therefore confirmed that Ronaldinho is to remain an A.C. Milan player for the time being, but his agent has favoured a link to USA sometime in the future. Assis confirmed that during Milan’s USA tour, the brother met a lot of people. David Beckham has reportedly pushed Ronaldinho to join him at LA Galaxy. De Assis announced that should talks fail with Milan in December, a move to USA may be on the horizon next summer.
In other news, Brazilian left back, Maicon's agent, has claimed that the defender may just join Real Madrid after all, despite claims on the contrary by the player himself a few days earlier. Maicon has been strongly linked to join his former coach, Jose Mourinho, at the Bernabeu, with Real Madrid admitting to be interested in the Brazilian’s signature. Mourinho and Maicon were part of Inter Milan’s treble winning side last season, and the Portuguese is known to be a keen admirer of the left back.
Inter however, are aware of Real’s interest in the left back, and price him around 35 million Euros, which the Spanish giants considered too expensive. Inter Milan’s new manager Rafael Benitez, would want to keep the left back in Italy, as he looks to continue where Mourinho left off.
Jose Mourinho has therefore cooled his pursuit for the Brazilian star, with reports claiming that the Portuguese is looking for players elsewhere. Maicon’s agent however, still believes that the deal may just be done, as there is still time for the transfer window to close, which expires by the end of August. The agent claimed that things have cooled down after the huge price tag on the player, and that concentration is currently on Mario Balotelli.
Balotelli is wanted by both Manchester Clubs. He was therefore happy about the situation, claiming that Maicon would be able to enjoy his holidays fully. The agent however, voiced his opinion about Real Madrid’s interest, claiming that the offer is not over yet. History has taught everyone that most transfer windows end with a bang.
Manchester City manager, Roberto Mancini, is also reported to be interested in taking Maicon to England. Manchester City has offered almost everyone, as they aim to bolster their squad, and finish in the top four this season. Maicon greatly impressed everyone in the World Cup, as well as with Inter Milan last season.
