  1. 1.lead into space so your players can put the ball out in front of you, this will give you a good chance at marking the ball.

2.for a hand pass you should hold the ball with one hand and hit the ball with the other on the point of the ball but in a way as to make the ball spin backwards as it travels through the air.

3.I think in AFL the hardest position to play is centre half forward, you need to present and take a grab up the ground, play on probably the best back man, kick goals from 50 mtrs on all angles,be the go to man when the ball comes down from your back line etc,you only had to watch Carey play to see what a great centre half forward can do for a side, and you can throw Johnathan brown in to.

all positions are probably equally important,i.e you need a strong steady back line, hard running and skill full midfield and some power forwards with some good goal sneaks-this is what makes a good side.

  2. 1. Depends, the centre half forward needs to lead from the 50m line up to the centre, the full forward leads from the goal square up to around 40m. Anyone in the forward line needs to lead out as well to leave the FF one out in the square

    2. Hit it just above the stitching for a 'rocket' handpass and just below on a 45 degree angle for a looping handpass

    3. Depends really - if you have agreat ruckman that can be the difference, same if you have a dominant forward who is a force in the air and great goalscorer

Personally i think the Centre Half Back is for these reasons

    - The centre half forward is usually the best forward in the modern era

    - They can create run from the backline by handing it to the half forwards

    - Is the toughest position to play, have to be strong in the air, stamina and attacking prowess needed for rebounds

  3. 1. It depends on what position you are playing. In an ideal situation, you should lead in a straight line toward the ball carrier. This allows him/her to kick it straight to you and to gain some field position. But the world of AFL is far from ideal so try to lead into space where possible. Try to avoid leading into an area where it will be hard to place a kick. The object of leading is to make it easy for the ball carrier to kick or handball to you. Raising your hand and pointing to a spot where you want the kick to be placed can help the kicker judge their kick. Never change direction after leading as this will confuse the kicker.

    2. For a rocket pass, hit the ball at its base. For an end over end pass, hit it just above the stitching meeting points, holding the ball at about a 45 degree angle.

    3. Every position is important but centre half forward, and therefore centre half back, are probably the most important roles on the field. These guys control a lot of the play. Ruckman is also a very important position because the ruck can be a turning point of a game...
