  1. Certainly there is money in rookie cards. However, sports cards can be assembled and sold in so many ways. Starting with rookie cards. However, rookie cards can increase and decrease in value depending on the value of the player to the sport. You can also collect sets, and sub-sets. The whole collection issued for any particular year that you are interested in. This is how collecting originally started. One collector would try to complete a set, and would be missing a card or two. He would then trade his extra cards to someone else in order to make a trade for the card or cards he would need to complete the set. Hence, the name card trading, or card collecting. The art of collecting sports cards originated usually as a small child. It does get addicting and usually continues on into adult life. However, usually adults stop collecting or trading and begin buying and selling. They are no longer collectors/traders. They become businessmen in the business of making profits from selling sports cards. They are now called dealers. I personally am still a card trader. I love making trades for the cards that I need for my collection. It also makes it a totally free hobby, and it is still a lot of fun for me. For the best advise, hang around your local sports card store in your neighborhood. Ask questions of the owner, and you can quickly learn what may be best for you depending on your interest. I wish you well.
