Tomas Kalas signs for Champions
Tomas Kalas, a teenage sensation in Czech Republic, officially signed with English Champions Chelsea. He is a 17 year old and plays as a centre back for his team. He would not, however, join the Blues as he has been loaned back to Olomouc. The transfer fee is yet to be disclosed, but the starlet has already caught the eye of major European clubs and Chelsea was quick to sign the young prospect.
Chelsea academy manager Neil Bath confirmed that the starlet would be loaned back and added that the defender would be now be playing in U-18’s. Kalas made his debut last season and was very agile and quick. He is strong one-on-one defender, and has confidence with the ball.
Neil however expected to stay in touch with the player over his loan term and specified that the player is a right footed player and can play as a right back.
Fahey extends Birmingham City Contract:
The 27 year old midfielder extended his Premier League contract at Birmingham City until 2013. He joined the side in January 2009, and previously played in Irish league side St. Patrick Athletic. He impressed in his 59 appearances for Birmingham City, and scored 4 times. His manager, Alex Mcleish, is happy with the player’s performance, and praised him for proving his quality in the premier league. The manager was happy that Fahey was able to cope with the ruthless Premier League playing style, and never gave up on his dream of playing in the top flight. Mcleish labelled Fahey’s story as “inspirational” for young players, who may not be successful with the first club they train with, but slowly and gradually pave their way and make a name for themselves.
Fahey first went into English football when he trained in Arsenal, but was a failure. He then switched to Aston Villa in 2000 and again failed to make an impact, securing just one team appearance. He was consequently sent back to his home league, the Irish league. Here Birmingham City manager was impressed by the player, and signed him in 2009. Fahey then never looked back and earned starts for his club. He is now an established player in Birmingham City, and has extended his contract till 2013.
