Football Euro 2012- The youngsters who will be taking the big step ahead as Spain prepares for the European Qualifiers
It’s not the best of times for the European and World Champions Spain, as they head into the next round of the European qualifiers without the services of 8 of their world cup stars.
Among the injured are Fernando Torres, Pedro Rodriguez, Raul Albiol. Fabregas, Xavi, and Jesus Navas. While Juan Manuel Mata and Javi Martinez are also busy with the Under -21 squad for their own European qualifiers.
Had it been any other side, the loss of such big players would have undermined any teams chances but not Spain, as the World Champions have a huge squad and even with the loss of such quality, they still have plenty of cover available.
The loss of such high profile absentees provides a perfect opportunity to Vincente Del Bosque to field some fresh faces in the competition without having to go through the dilemma of who to drop and who to draft in.
The Euro 2012 is just two years ahead and this perhaps is the perfect time for Del Bosque to test the depth of talent that is available to him.
Presented below is a list of some high profile youngsters who are yet to make their mark on the biggest stage but have been putting in spectacular performance for their club and its not time for them to take the next step ahead.
ARITZ ADURIZ
Aritz Aduriz is a 29 year old striker who plays for Valencia and has helped the fans get over the loss of David Villa and David Silva to Barcelona and Manchester City with his impressive performances for the club. He surely does not have
the super star profile that the two Davids enjoy but he along with Roberto Soldado has set the stage at the Mestella alight. He has taken no time in settling into Unai Emery’s squad and his goals and performances have certainly boasted his chances to take
the big step into the national side.
The striker is capable of playing as a lone striker or in a supporting role where he excels for his club. So far, he has scored 4 goals in 6 starts for his club and going by form, he is the best in the Spanish La Liga this season and it will be a treat for
the world wide audiences when he partners David Villa in the Spanish attack.
BORJA VALERO
Borja Valero is another sublime talent who plays as a box to box midfielder for Villareal. The 25 year old is a former Mallorca player who just moved to the El Madrigal in the summer. The playmaker has brilliantly fitted into the squad at the Madrigal and
after he was voted the Best Spanish player of 2009-10 with Mallorca last season it is now time for the midfielder to step up and rub shoulders with the likes of Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets.
Del Bosque has rewarded the youngster with his first call up for the national squad and in the absence of many of his midfield stars Valero is likely to feature in his squad in the qualifiers.
SANTI CAZORLA
Cazorla is a 25 year winger who plays for Los Che at the Mestalla and despite his age, he is no rookie and already has 26 caps for his country. Santi was overlooked for the World cup squad but his decent performances for the Los Che have
seen him impress his national manager.
With Pedro and Jesus Navas out of the two ties, Cazorla is likely to partner Silva and Iniesta in the midfield and after a decent rest over the summer, Cazorla is just in the right shape to take the big step forward.
Cazorla already has two goals and two assists so far in the campaign and is surely one of the key factors behind Villareal’s success in the La Liga.
