Football Feature: The Best Starting Eleven of the Decade – Part 2
Zinedine Zidane: Midfielder Centre (Juventus & Real
Madrid)
Zinedine Zidane is a living, breathing, legend. He is without a doubt one of the greatest players in football history.
He was and for a lot still is an iconic figure. He won the 2000 European Championship and the 1998 World Cup.
Zidane is a motivational character that all footballers inspire to.
Ronaldinho: Midfielder Centre (Gremio, PSG,
Barcelona & Milan)
Ronaldinho is regarded to be one of the most exceptional footballers of his generation.
Ronaldinho had extraordinary dribbling skills and was a free kick specialist and most Barcelona fans believe that Ronaldinho’s time with Barcelona was the best that the Catalan giants ever saw.
Figo: Midfielder Right (Barcelona, Real
Madrid & Inter)
Figo has gone in history as one of the best Portuguese players ever. He will always be remembered for his intelligent wing play and except technical skill.
Raul: Striker (Real Madrid)
Raul is without a doubt one of the best strikers of the past decade and his finishing is often dazzling.
Even though he’s past his heyday, Raul still possesses the ability to turn on the style when necessary.
Ronaldo: Striker (Inter, Real Madrid, Milan & Corinthians)
Often called the most complete striker ever, Ronaldo possessed oodles of pace and his finishing was unrivalled. His goal scoring sprees for Barcelona, Inter and Real Madrid are the stuff of legend. Moreover, in the 2002 World Cup,
he finished top scorer, helped Brazil capture their fifth World Cup trophy.
Jose Mourinho: Manager (Leiria, Porto, Chelsea, Inter)
Mourinho has won seventeen trophies with Chelsea, Porto and Inter Milan and he is probably the manager best suited to leading this World XI out due to his European stylings.
Though many managers and players (such as Ottmar Hitzfeld, Sir Alex Ferguson, Carlo Ancelotti, Cristiano Ronaldo, Denis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry, Alessandro Nesta and more) couldn’t make the cut, they were all worthy candidates.
The players and the manager chosen are the best of the past decade and they were chosen because of their ability to work with others – something that made them phenomenal players in the first place.
