Football: La Liga action, Adriano Correia joins Barcelona
The Catalan Giants have made another signing after David Villa, who came earlier this summer from Valencia. Barcelona and their Spanish rivals, Sevilla, have agreed on the deal that Barcelona struck for their defender and midfielder, Adriano Correia.
Both the clubs have reached an agreement for the transfer of the Sevillan home grown defender Adriano and the Spanish Champions got him for an initial fee of 9.5 million Euros and a conditional 4 million Euros extra. The deal basically depends on the star's medical fitness, as he is going to pass a test on Saturday.
Adriano is the second signing this year, for the Catalan giants, after David Villa who they bought from Valencia. Adriano, just like Villa, has shown his amazing talent in football as he can play in various positions. During his 6 seasons in Sevilla, he showed the fans that he is a great player, as he is only 25 years old and has a huge career to look forward to.
He can play in various positions just like Rafa Marquez, and he is going to replace the Mexican with his great ability at the back and the mid. He can switch places throughout the match and can play "total football" quite easily. He can either be a full-back or even a holding midfielder. Many have even seen him play as a centre midfielder but his job in Barcelona is going to be a holding midfielder, most probably. Just because of his ability to play in different positions, he earned his place in the starting 11 for Sevilla, and he helped them win a lot of honours during their past few seasons.
Adriano is not the only Sevilla star that Barcelona bought. Dani Alves, who is now a prominent figure on the right, was also a Sevilla player. He was with Alves back in Sevilla as well and both of them won many titles together, which included, UEFA Cup, Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup and European Super Cup.
Adriano is going to sign this Saturday for the football club, Barcelona. He is going to put pen to paper for his future in the Spanish side. He is going to sign the deal at the office of Blaugrana and the ceremony is going to take place in the presence of the Barca president Sandro Rossell and the vice-president, Josep Maria Bartomeu.
After the contract signing, he is going to pose for a photo shoot, outside the offices, in front of a huge crowd that is going to be filled with many Barcelona fans. On Monday afternoon, he is going to be presented in front of the press where he is going to be interviewed and will be asked about his future in Barcelona and how he feels.
After Adriano, Barcelona has signed 2 players this summer. First is the in-form David Villa, who has shown how he is going to connect with the Barca side as most of them played for the Spanish team in the FIFA World Cup 2010.
Villa scored 5 goals and was even a nominee for the golden boot but was unable to win as the German youngster Thomas Muller had greater assists than him, and even though both the players had scored the same number of goals, Muller took home the golden boot.
Villa even showed great form during his last season, where he was the 4th highest goal scorer in the Spanish League. He was injured as his shoulder was dislocated, during the last season, but he still managed to score 27 goals in the previous season. Now, Villa is combining well with Xavi and Iniesta and they are now going to meet up in the first ever training session on Tuesday.
Is Barcelona going too far with their new signings? Well, their Spanish rivals Real Madrid have always played this type of a game where they bought the greatest of talents to play for their side. Is it going to work for the Catalan giants? Let's wait and see.
