Football Manager 2012 gets a PC and Mac demo, no change in system requirements
Sega are giving gamers who wish to manage a professional football side with a chance to do so, albeit in a virtual world, with the announcement of a demo for Football Manager 2012.
The demo has already been released for both PCs and Mac systems, so that non-console gamers can see if they can better their side’s real life managers using their own unique blend of tactics and transfer market activity. The game’s publisher has released
the demo on Valve’s digital distribution platform, Steam, and will offer gamers the chance to play half a season to get the hang of the game.
The demo will also serve another purpose, as Sega will be hoping that gamers who have not indulged themselves in the Football Manager experience will get to do so free of cost. So, it may just earn a few extra sales for the company.
Another interesting feature about the demo, which many in the gaming community may not know about, is the fact that the demo’s progress will continue into the full retail version of the game. A move that is almost reminiscent of what Naughty Dog did with
the Uncharted 3 beta.
As for the system requirements, they are identical to the ones for Football Manager 2011, which were and still are:
For Mac:
OS X 10.5.8/10.6.8/10.7.x or higher
Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT/ ATI Radeon X1600 or higher
Intel Processor.
On the other hand, PC users have a few more requirements:
Windows XP/Windows 7/Windows Vista
Processor speed greater 1.4GHz (2.0GHz for Vista or Windows 7)
Intel Pentium 4, Intel Core or AMD Athlon Processor
2GB of Hard Drive Space and 512MB of RAM (1GB for Vista or Windows 7)
A 128MB video card minimum.
That takes care of the basic requirements and seeing the game’s brilliance in its ability to make the complex art of managing a football side as simple as they have, it is quite impressive how they have delivered more without upping the requirements.
The fact that a majority of fairly standard laptops can also run the game, one would can easily picture an office full of busy looking employees, focusing and working away at their workstations, when in reality they are probably in their fourth season of
trying to take Leeds United back to the Barclays Premier League or maybe even guiding Liverpool to their first Premier League trophy in ages.
The demo is set to stay live for another couple of weeks at least and should provide ample time for some managers to build up to a perfect start of the season, while others can test the game out to see if it is to their liking. Football Manager 2012 is
scheduled for release on the October 21, 2011.
