Football Manager 2012 set for an October release
Football fans who think they can do a better job than the managers in charge of their favourite club will finally have the chance in a few weeks as the next iteration for the popular football management series gets an official release date.
Football Manager may be an unimaginative name for one of the best selling series in its genre, however, the same name has grown a fanatic following and news of an October release date for Football Manager 2012 will do nothing less than send its legions of
fans into mass delirium.
Sega, the game's publishers, have confirmed that gamers can pick up their copies of the game on the 21st of October. At this point we can imagine most of our readers marking down the date on their calendar and checking their wallets as well.
The game’s developers are in a bullish mood as they themselves are excited for the game’s launch.
According to Miles Jacobson, the Studio Director at Sports Interactive, the game continues to improve on some of the features which were found in previous games of the series with a number of tweaks and enhancements.
At the same time however, he also said that there were also a number of new features which had been introduced in the game which would make it more accessible to a wider audience.
"It's another year of evolution, with some revolution thrown in for good measure so we're pretty sure our dedicated communities, and hopefully lots of new people too, get to play and enjoy the game when it's released later in the year," said Jacobson.
The only question that remains is how the game will fare against an indirect competitor in the form of Electronic Arts football simulation title, FIFA 12. EA’s title is sure to sell in huge numbers following its release and Football Manager 12 is set to
release barely a month after FIFA 12.
Whether or not Football Manager 12 can keep a hold of the dugout is something that we will be keeping a very close eye on in the weeks to come.
