Football News: England manager Fabio Capello names England squad for Euro 2012 qualifiers
England manager Fabio Capello has finally named the squad playing for The Three Lions in the Euro 2012 qualifiers.
His squad will have to face Bulgaria and Switzerland in the early stages of the tournament before they progress to the group stages and then the main event.
The interesting thing about the announcement is that Tottenham’s strikers Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe are both included in the squad, even though they both have issues regarding their fitness levels.
Another surprising but still expected entry - or rather, a reentry in the squad is of West Ham United defender Matthew Upson. He was left out of the squad in the last announcement.
Fans will be extremely disappointed because Chelsea teammates John Terry and Frank Lampard have been ruled out because of injuries and therefore were unable to make it to the team.
Fans of Joe Cole and Aaron Lennon will also be disappointed, as they have once again failed to impress Capello.
Arsenal player Kieran Gibbs remains in the squad; however, his teammate Jack Wilshere has been demoted to the Under-21 squad.
