Football News: German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger commits to Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich's star midfielder, Bastian Schweinsteiger was often linked with a move away from the team in the past. In fact it was even reported at one point that the player had some sort of an argument with the team’s manager and as a result handed in
a transfer request. However all of those rumours seem to have been put to rest as the player has gone ahead and committed himself to the club until 2016, after having signed a contract extension with the team.
The 26-year-old, who has often been the inspiration behind the German international team, was linked heavily with moves to the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid, but it seems like those moves won’t be taking place in the near future.
After the team's win over St Pauli, the player got hold of a microphone and went ahead and stated to the fans in the crowd that he would not be going anywhere and that he was going to continue playing for the team for as long as he could.
The player is reported to have said: "I've extended my contract and I'm staying with Bayern until 2016. Long live Bayern!" After which he added and said to the fans that: "I've extended my contract for you."
Bastian joined the team, way back in 1998 when he was still a teenager and needed a lot of further tuning to make him the player that he is today. The player was often caught in two worlds in the past as he used to state that he wanted to leave the team,
but his heart just didn't let him.
However it seems like Schweinsteiger was the last home grown player at the club who needed to commit his future to the team after both Philip Lahm and Thomas Muller did so recently.
Munich have been pushed in the right direction after the team managed to retain one of their best, if not their best player for such a long term and are bound to try and put their terrible domestic form to a rest as a result, as they try to take the top
spot in the league once again.
