Football News: Inter on the lookout for Bale
The Inter Milan manager, Spaniard Rafael Benitez has unveiled that he could potentially be on the lookout for Gareth Bale as a possible transfer target, after his team were humiliated by Bale and his Tottenham’s side in their encounter
last night in the Champions League.
Out of the three goals that were scored by Tottenham, Bale set up two of them. Both Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko has the simple tasks of tapping in the ball after having been provided with some brilliant incisive passes by the brilliant
young player.
Inter’s club president, Massimo Moratti has already indicated on numerous occasions in the past that the team are long term admirers of the player and have been on the lookout for the youngster.
When the manager of the Inter Milan team Rafa Benitez was asked if he would like to sign the young winger, he responded by saying: "If he plays like today, why not?"
"I think he was doing well away in the first game and he was doing well today when he had the space," said Benitez, who saw his side slip behind Spurs on goal difference in Group A.
"We knew that if he has the space, it is difficult to stop him because he has pace."
When Benitez was asked about Bale dominating Maicon, he replied and siad: "Maicon is a very good offensive defender.
"He has more problem when players play like Bale, so we had to help him."
Despite being second best tonight, Inter set up a nervy finish when Samuel Eto'o made it 2-1.
"I could see that the team was growing and doing better and, at the end, the third goal changed everything," said Benitez.
After Bale set up the third goal for the team, the Inter Milan director, Luis Figo approached Harry Redknapp the Tottenham boss and was caught exchanging words with him.
When asked about what the two talked about, Redknapp said: "He said to me, 'Bale is just amazing, amazing"
"When Figo says that, it's got to be good, because he was such a fantastic footballer.
"He said, 'He killed us twice'."
Bale is clearly on a hill that is only going higher as the days go by. Bale was brought into Tottenham as a youngster with a lot to prove, however he has taken the opportunity and become the heart and soul of the team. Tottenham has been
lacking the one player who can prove to be the difference maker for awhile now, however it seems like that player has finally arrived in the form of Gareth Bale.
However with such great talent comes the threat of the player leaving the team for a bigger club, Tottenham will be hoping Bale doesn’t make the jump but it is only natural for a player with Bale’s ability to want to win some trophies,
which he probably won’t do at Tottenham for quite some time.
