Football News: Real Madrid’s goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek out injured for 6 weeks after broken jaw
The latest news from Madridista has revealed that Real Madrid shot-stopper Jerzy Dudek has been ruled out of action for around 6 to 7 weeks, after he injured himself during Wednesday’s Champions League fixture against Auxerre.
The Spanish giants hammered Auxerre four goals to nil, all thanks to French international Karim Benzema who scored a treble. The 22-year-old forward has finally found his former form from Lyon as he completed a hat-trick late into the game. However, more worrisome
for fans of the Los Blancos was confirmation that their goalkeeper had indeed suffered a jaw fracture; Dudek is now scheduled to undergo an operation that will see him missing the action for at least a month-and-a-half, if not more.
The official statement released by the Los Blancos stated, “Dudek is expected to miss approximately six weeks pending an assessment by a surgeon within the next 24 hours.”
The incident occurred when Dudek cleared the ball from the feet of striker Roy Contout. During the process he accidentally crashed into the forward and fell to the ground.
Real Madrid’s medical staff declared the player unfit to continue and therefore he was called off only to be replaced by debutant Antonio Adan.
The Spanish giants have added that because of the recovery and rehabilitation process, the player will be out of play till the 15th of January. Nonetheless, they were hopeful for a speedy recovery.
Presently, Dudek is playing his 4th season with the Spanish outfit; however, the goalkeeper has made only 12 appearances for the Santiago Bernabeu-based club so far. His progress has mostly been hindered by shot-stopper
Iker Casillas, who has been in amazing form since his debut.
