Football News: Real’s Ronaldo hails Mourinho for S. Gijon win as Nasri lashes out at William Gallas
The ex-Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo has come out and stated that his team’s one goal win over Sporting Gijon at El Molinon stadium was dedicated to Jose Mourinho. Jose was banned from the touchline in Real’s encounter against
Sporting but Real Madrid still managed to win the game thanks to a goal from the Argentinean striker, Gonzalo Higuain.
Real Madrid went to the top of the Spanish league table as a result of their win against Sporting, something that must’ve pleased Mourinho who came to Madrid after parting ways with Inter Milan in the summer transfer window of 2010.
Ronaldo went onto say, "We have shown that we can play football in difficult situations, we have quality. The match has been tight, there has been many stoppages, but the coach gave us instructions to go out and secure the victory. This
victory is for Mourinho. He has not been on the bench, but we knew our orders. The goal came late, but it did eventually come."
Cristiano added to his remarks as he spoke about the match and especially Sporting Gijon’s tactics. He said, "They have kicked us and played anti-football, which is difficult to play against. But our attitude was good."
On the other hand, Arsenal’s midfielder Samir Nasri has been in media’s spotlight ever since he was highlighted in Gallas’s autobiography. Gallas wrote in his book that the young French midfielder had clashed with the former French team
captain, Thierry Henry after Nasri had taken the former Barcelona players seat on the team bus.
Arsenal’s midfielder said, “Somebody [Gallas] wrote in his book that I’d had a row with him, and said that I nicked someone else’s [Henry] seat on the bus. That is absolute rubbish. People called me a little sod after Euro 2008. But they
have come to see the people I had problems with at the time went on to s***w things up in South Africa.”
In alternative news, Alessandro Del Piero has also come out in the media and confirmed that Juventus’s main aim this season is to qualify for the 2011-2012 UEFA Champions League competition. Juventus who drew their last league match against
Roma have blown hot and cold in this year’s Serie A. However, Del Piero remarked, "Our objective is certainly the Champions League. We want to finish within the top three. We must cancel the past season, which was horrible."
Del Piero also confirmed that he doesn’t take any extra massages before the match despite his age. He said to the press, "I never have any massage before the games unless there is a problem. There are some players who love the massages
before games."
