Football News- Sergio Aguero to join Chelsea, Lazio aims to keep Aleksander Kolarov
Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Lionel “Kun” Aguero has voiced his interest of joining English Champions, Chelsea. The Argentinean forward has been strongly linked with joining the Blues, since the time his club played Chelsea in the Champions League. Aguero has been a remarkable forward in La Liga, and played an important role in his club’s Europa League win. He believes that the time is now right for him to join the Champions. The striker is valued around 25 million pounds and Chelsea does have the finances to add such a terrific player to their squad. The 22 year old stated that if an offer comes from the right club and his current club feels the price is right for him, then the deal is done.
He named Chelsea as being one of the most powerful clubs of Europe, and will want to join them. He added that Chelsea enter into the transfer market season after season, and strengthen their squad, which lands them at least one trophy each season. He admitted that he wants to win trophies and silverware, and Chelsea will perhaps be the perfect club which will give him such an opportunity. He praised the quality and depth of Chelsea, and said that he will be excited to be a part of such a club.
He disclosed that he will love to partner Drogba up front, and that will make one of the lethal striking combos in the World. He however stated that Chelsea was not limited to Drogba, and named Lampard, Terry, Anelka and Essien as being top quality players. He even named Fernando Torres as being a potential Chelsea player. He added that Chelsea employ the finest of players, who play best at their designated positions.
In other news, Lazio chairman Claudio Lotito has voiced his opinion about the highly rated left back Aleksander Kolarov and stated that only a huge transfer fee will see the player leave the club.
The Serbian has attracted interests from two mega clubs; Real Madrid and Manchester City, who are known to be big spenders. They rival each other and offering a huge transfer fee for a player they want is no big deal for them. However, the club has issued a strong statement of keeping the player stating that the player was not on the market. Suitable offers may well be looked into however, but the club has no intention to sell the player. The club president added that the current economic situation will make it highly unlikely for clubs to offer a mega deal for the player. The head coach for Lazio Edy Reja is ready to welcome the player back into the squad, who is currently at a rest after the World Cup. He added that he does not see the player leaving Lazio, and asked him to join the pre-season training on 20th July with the club. He however stated that things might change if something out of the ordinary happens in the transfer market.
Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish is likely to add some more names to his club, but confessed that landing the right player for the right price will be a difficult ordeal. Birmingham has already added Manchester United goal keeper Ben Foster and 6 ft 7.5 inch striker Nikola Zigic to the squad, but is likely to strengthen the squad by adding some fresh faces. The manager voiced his opinion on the matter, claiming that he was not done as yet and is still finding players who will strengthen the squad. He outlined the fact that prices are inflated in the Premier League as well as abroad, which may be due to high spending clubs such as Manchester City and Real Madrid. He however believed that the prices will not keep the club from finding quality players and if it does not work out, he would then consider a “Plan B”.
