Football - Possible Winter Transfers of 20 Players (Part 1)
Although, it is still early in the season and a lot more exciting football is still to be played but as the teams play more, some players do not feature in the starting eleven on a regular basis, or are dissatisfied due to a variety of reasons, as a result
of which they may seek a move away from their respective clubs during the upcoming winter transfer window.
Similarly, the clubs look to bolster their squads with reinforcements that could help them achieve their objectives. For example, Andrei Arshavin’s addition to Arsenal during the winter transfer window two years back proved vital and provided the much needed
boost to Arsene Wenger's side. Also, some players have rifts with their bosses, which might force them to look for other possible opportunities.
The winter transfer window usually has a lot of activity and there are already a number of rumours floating in the media circles. Here is a list of 20 players who could be on the move during the winter transfer window:
Ryan Babel (Present Club - Liverpool):
This former Ajax striker possesses a lot of talent and has shown his skills to play at the highest level. But still, Babel has been far too inconsistent and in Liverpool’s present scenario, it would not be a surprise if he is sold by ‘The Reds’ in order
to raise funds for signing another quality winger.
The 23-year-old winger was about to leave Liverpool after he endured a rough relationship with the ex-Liverpool boss, Rafael Benitez, but the new Liverpool manager, Roy Hodgson has placed his trust on Babel.
Ryan Babel hasn't been handed a permanent starting eleven place in Liverpool’s most of the matches this season. He was only given two out of ten possible starts just like last season, where he appeared only 20 times. Any player in his age surely wants to
play more and more football.
Media reports claim that Hodgson is preparing to table a £10m bid for Juan Mata while using Babel as a make-weight. The left-winger Babel has never really settled at Arsenal since his move from Ajax in 2007. So, the deal might well be an attractive one for
him.
Charles Nzogbia (Present Club - Wigan Athletic):
Charles Nzogbia is a French winger currently playing for the English side, Wigan Athletic. The 24-year-old aims to play for a top side in the future. Nzogbia was tempted by a move to Birmingham City worth £9m in August, but the deal was shelved after the
Frenchman demanded wages.
Charles Nzogbia has already made his intentions of leaving the Lactics clear. So, it would not be a surprise to see some more clubs showing interest in him. Nzogbia was also linked to the French side, Marseille a few months back.
Lactics’ manager, Robert Martinez left Nzogbia out of the side, saying that his mind wasn’t right but he has since returned to the fold. The Frenchman said: “The club remains a springboard but I made a mistake and was given bad advice. I had a good talk
with the coach, Roberto Martinez and he relies on me. I have the quality to reach a new level but to achieve it I have to play and Wigan offers me this opportunity. We don't know what can happen in the winter or at the end of the season, I have two years remaining
on my contract. Playing in England is the top priority but when the winter transfer window opens, I will talk with my officials."
