Football - Possible Winter Transfers of 20 Players (Part 12)
Juventus will surely pull out all the stops to sign Edin Dzeko in the New Year but Manchester City’s money can blow them out of the water.
It was reported earlier this month that Juventus had already agreed a deal for the Wolfsburg centre forward, who would supposedly join the club at the end of the season.
However, Juventus, while never denying their interest in Edin Dzeko, soon revealed that they had not acquired the services of the Bosnian ace.
‘The Old Lady’ are looking to bid for some new players in the upcoming winter transfer window, and Dzeko is a name that has not been crossed off the list.
Juventus' General Director, Giuseppe Marotta said: "Intervening doesn't mean spending money, but taking advantages of the opportunities. If there is a chance to better this group, then we will react. Dzeko? He is not a dream that
has ended, but postponed. Our attack is a winning one as it is though."
Meanwhile, Manchester City are being considered as the stronger side to land the Bosnian striker in the end. City's Italian coach, Roberto Mancini will be given funds to sign the highly talented striker in the winter, and it is
believed that the Wolfsburg front man features highly on his list of targets.
It won't be a surprise if the big-spending City splash the cash to attain the services of the Wolfsburg centre forward, but the Italian giants, Juventus will not make it a one horse race. The Old Lady have made no secret of their ambition to sign him, and
have pursued him for more than a year now.
Roque Santa Cruz (Present Club - Manchester City):
Roque Santa Cruz was signed by Mark Hughes when he was in charge of Manchester City for around £18 million in 2009. The Paraguayan striker was considered one of the best strikers in English Premier League at that time. Santa scored his first ever goal for
Manchester City against Scunthrope in the Carling Cup fixture on 28th October 2009.
Meanwhile, he scored his first league goals for City against Sunderland, scoring a brace in an electrifying four to three win which also proved to be Hughes last game at the club. However, Santa’s progress has been restricted due to a series of injuries
which have prohibited him from featuring in many games.
