Football - Possible Winter Transfers of 20 Players (Part 13)
Manchester City’s unsettled striker was all set to leave for current Italian league leaders, Lazio in the summer transfer window, but his deal could not be sealed by the transfer deadline, and he was subsequently included in the
list of twenty five players for Manchester City in this season.
Santa Cruz has not enjoyed an encouraging era at the Eastlands, and in addition to that he is also not getting many chances to amaze City’s new boss, Roberto Mancini. The 29-year-old striker has managed to appear twenty nine times
since his arrival at Eastlands. Unfortunately, he has failed to feature in even a single game this season for Manchester City.
Valencia Interest:
The current leaders of Spanish League, Valencia will offer want away striker of Manchester City, Roque Santa Cruz, a loan deal to the end of the season when the winter transfer window opens, according to reports.
It is believed that Valencia will use Santa Cruz as an alternative striker, if their current attacking duo failed to perform. After the departure of their two superstar strikers, David Villa and David Silva, the Spanish club is
looking to increase its attacking options.
The 29-year-old striker had looked certain to leave Manchester City in the summer window with Milan leading the chase for his signature, and at one stage the deal appeared a formality.
However, the Paraguayan striker remained at Eastlands, but with such a dazzling collection of attacking talent at Roberto Mancini’s disposal, it seems unlikely that the forward will be given many starting eleven chances.
Although, Blackburn Rovers were the team who primarily brought Santa to English Premier League in a £3.5 million deal in 2007. When Mark Hughes took the charge of City, he swooped for the front man, but his time at the club has been spoiled by a series of injuries.
Santa’s love with Lazio:
The Citizens' striker hopes that the current Italian Serie A leaders, Lazio will throw him a rope to help scale the transfer hurdle after what seemed like his potential move to the club fell through during the last transfer session.
Santa is steadfast over his future and desires to push himself to Rome. He has acknowledged his position with the hope that Lazio make another move in January. Nevertheless, the Paraguayan striker wishes to strike again and accomplish
his ambition of playing in Serie A.
Santa told the media, "I hoped to have gone to Rome as that was my dream, but in the end everything went up in smoke. There is lots of talk about me moving to Italy; maybe it can happen next time. I don't know what Lazio's intentions
are as I have received many offers, but I want Serie A. Italian football fascinates me."
All in all, Santa is a quality striker and there will be many sides who will be pleased to procure his services. Santa might transfer to Lazio in winter, in an attempt to seek first team football.
Marteen Stekelenburg (Present Club - Ajax):
The Ajax gloves man was one of the shining stars in the FIFA World Cup 2010. Without a doubt, Marteen Stekelenburg impressed in the world cup for Holland and was one of the main reasons why they reached the final. Over the years, the 28-year-old goalkeeper
has been a consistent performer for the Dutch Champions side.
Stekelenburg's current contract with Ajax runs till the end of 2012 season, he is believed to be looking for a new challenge. With the Dutch Champions in the midst of financial troubles, they also might accept a sizeable offer for their veteran shot stopper.
