Football - Possible Winter Transfers of 20 Players (Part 2)
Contd.....
Moreover, the French winger (Charles Nzogbia) hinted that he was also ready to move back to France and play for Marseille or PSG there. He stated: “I don’t see why I should not return to France. Once the transfer window opens, I will talk to my bosses.”
There are some other elite European clubs also that have been linked to the young winger as securing his services will be a boost for them.
Javi Martinez (Present Club - Athletic Bilbao):
Javi Martinez was one of the important players in the 2010 FIFA World Cup winning squad of Spain. The 22-year-old midfielder is rated highly by Spain's legendary boss, Vincente Del Bosque. Martinez has also skippered Spain's Under-21 football team.
This mercurial playmaker is currently a mainstay of Bilbao’s starting eleven and has contributed immensely to his team. The world cup winner has managed 147 appearances for Bilbao in which he scored 17 times.
Meanwhile, Manchester United's boss, Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly considering a winter transfer deal for Martinez as United's experienced pair of Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes isn't getting any younger and now is the time to search for their quality replacements.
The precocious youngster has already been linked in the past with two of United’s fiercest rivals: Liverpool and Manchester City. It is believed that Manchester United’s boss is a huge admirer of the player who is likened to Scholes. Ferguson is attracted
to him because of his versatility across the midfield.
During the summers, Liverpool were rumoured to be monitoring the talented Spanish midfielder while Manchester City’s boss, Robert Mancini was believed to be in constant touch with Javi, prior to sealing a deal for David Silva.
Although, both clubs remain the potential suitors but rumours indicate that United are in the box-seat and could move for the player as early as January. Javi Martinez fits the bill and he might also be interested because he will be playing for one of the
biggest clubs in the world.
Michael Owen (Present Club - Manchester United):
Michael Owen was signed by Manchester United last year but he has mostly been restricted to substitute appearances for most part of his career there. Now, with the emergence of some new talented strikers like Diouf, Danny Welbeck and Macheda, Owen may look
for a move away from Old Trafford.
The new Villian manager, Gerard Houllier has shown his interest in signing Owen. Even though, Manchester United have made it clear that Owen is part of their plans at Old Trafford, it is still a possibility that he will be allowed to leave.
If Roy Hodgson came calling, the former English striker may fancy a move back to Merseyside. Michael Owen was an outstanding striker at Anfield, scoring more than one-hundred and fifty goals for Liverpool, but then he moved to Real Madrid which drew a lot
of criticism from Liverpool's diehard supporters.
Owen has not endured a happy time ever since he left Liverpool. The 30-year-old gave his all when he played for ‘The Reds’ and it seems that he will love to return to them.
Furthermore, ‘The Reds’ struggled last season because Fernando Torres was injured and they did not have any impact substitute. Torres is no doubt a wonderful forward but he has succumbed to injuries several times recently. It will take someone like Michael
Owen to replace him.
It might also be the right time for Owen to leave Manchester United and revitalise his career.
