Football - Possible Winter Transfers of 20 Players (Part 3)
Contd.....
Juan Mata (Present Club - Valencia):
Juan Manuel Mata is undoubtedly one of the most talented young players in the world. Blessed with a lot of pace and intelligence, this young sensation has all the traits to become the football’s next big thing.
The 22-year-old prodigy from Spain has been tracked by a number of big clubs including Liverpool, Manchester United and Barcelona. Media reports suggest that Liverpool’s under-fire boss, Roy Hodgson is planning an audacious move for Mata in a bid to placate
the irate Liverpool supporters.
Ryan Babel has failed to settle at Liverpool following his move from Ajax in 2007 and he might be on the verge of leaving Anfield. Hodgson now wants to offer Babel- who moved to Liverpool for £11.5m- along with £10m cash to land Juan Mata in his squad.
Mata has become a star at Valencia following his move from Real Madrid's B team three years ago. Hodgson cannot afford to buy players without selling but he hopes that a part exchange offer would suit Valencia as they would receive money as well as a replacement
for Mata.
According to Valencia’s President, the club's debt was just under £500m at the end of last year but it has now been reduced to around £350m. So, the Spanish club still has money worries and Liverpool’s boss, Roy Hodgson-if he is still there in January-hopes
to capitalise on that by making his move for the 22-year-old Juan Mata.
‘The Reds’ are in desperate need of a winger. It seems like Mata might be the right man to end up their problems.
Mark Schwarzer (Present Club - Fulham):
Mark Schwarzer is an experienced goalkeeper who is currently playing for the English Premier League club, Fulham. The 38-year-old Australian was an important member of the Fulham’s squad which ended up as a runner-up in UEFA Europa League last season.
Schwarzer, skipper of Australian football team, has been a consistent performer in the past but he hasn't had the chance to play in the elite European Championship throughout his career. During the recent summer transfer window, one of the most notable transfers
was Mark Schwarzer’s link to Arsenal.
The Gunners' boss had long been plagued by lack of a quality goalkeeper and was keen on bringing the experienced Fulham goalie to Arsenal. However, the talks did not materialise and Schwarzer remained at Craven Cottage as the transfer window closed.
Mark Hughes, who was then the newly appointed manager of Fulham, was one of the main reasons for the failure of this deal as he refused to let Schwarzer leave the club. Arsenal are likely to make a new offer in the upcoming winter transfer window.
Schwarzer has said that he hasn't yet given up hope of a move in the winter transfer window to pursue his ambition and play some elite European football. The 37-year-old added that he can see time running out for him while he admitted that the recent failed
move was among the toughest times of his career.
Schwarzer stated, "It was probably one of my hardest periods ever. This is the only time in my career I have ever tried to force an issue. I don't have time on my side. If you were a 30-year-old, you would walk away and say 'fair enough, I understand. But
I'm almost 38 and I want to fulfil an ambition. The sheer opportunity that was there ..."
