Question:

Football/Soccer in Ireland? Where?

I'm going to Ireland in May, and I was looking into going to watch a soccer game (football). I'm staying in Dublin, for the majority of my stay, and I was wondering if there was anyplace to watch a game between May 13-22, 2008. If so, what is the name of the team, so I can look at information? Thanks!

  1. All very well travelling up to Belfast...but where's he going to catch a game?

Stay in Dublin - I'd say the Bohemians are best to watch around the city. BUT if you can catch a GAA match at Croke Park - much faster and more atmosphere!

  2. ----------------------------------------...

May 16 Bohemians v Cork City

May 16 Derry City v Cobh Ramblers

May 16 Drogheda Utd v St Patricks Ath

May 16 Finn Harps v Shamrock Rov

May 16 UCD v Galway Utd

May 17 Sligo Rovers v Bray Wanderers

    --------------------------------------...

May 23 Bohemians v Galway Utd

May 23 Bray Wanderers v Cork City

May 23 Derry City v UCD

May 23 Shamrock Rov v Drogheda Utd

May 24 Cobh Ramblers v Finn Harps

May 24 Sligo Rovers v St Patricks Ath

Above are the fixtures for the eircom league - the professional league in the republic , in Dublin the pick of the rounds are may 16 bohemians v cork and May 23 The Mighty Mighty Shamrock Rovers v Drogheda Utd - Both games involve teams at the top end of the League - also there is an international friendly v Serbia on the 24th of May at Croke Park which should be 75,000 sell out crowd due to it being the first game of new manager Trapatatoni so there may be a problem getting tickets , for the League game there should be no problem just turn up at the gate !

  3. Where abouts are you coming from? Id reccommend after stayin in dublin, you get a train (journey lasting 1hour) to belfast and see the sites and do tours there. see where george best arguably one of the best players the world ever seen learned his trade,go to the odyssey or waterfront, catch a gig or see the ice hockey, go to the many pubs and clubs..belfast is one of europes most exciting up and coming cities and is very very safe, dont regret not making that visit to northern ireland, its unique!!

he isnt just coming to dublin to catch a game is he?..ireland north or south, the football is hardly great...infact its shite..! i also said "after stayin in dublin" why would you come to ireland and limit yourself to one place?

  4. should be a league game there a few dublin teams shelbourne/shamrock rovers/boheminans
