Ibrahim Afellay continued his talks after he spoke about his emotional phases that occurred when he first heard about Barcelona’s interest in him. He was asked whether he ever imagined that he was going to become a part of the La Blaugrana. The Dutch star
stated that he always was a fan of the Spanish side and always wanted to play with them when he was a little kid. However, he said that no matter how much he thought that he could become a part of Barcelona, as he grew up he realized that he had to be very
special to join them. He said that he could not even imagine that Barcelona are going to sign him and it still feels like a dream sometimes.

The question related to the starting of his football career and what it was like when he joined the Dutch club back when he was only 17. He replied that everything was very new for him and it was very hard for
him to fight through each and everything to become the captain of the club. He said that each and every teammate who was his friend was stronger than him and it was hard for him to compete against all of them.
He further added on to his conversation by summing up his seven years in his former club. He said that his former club means a lot for him and he was very close to the fans and the players because he was the captain. He said that it was the only club that

He was asked about the best coach that he has performed for. He started the answer by stating that almost all of them had a key role in making him a player that he is today. However, he mentioned Guus Hiddink has been his favourite. He said that it was him
who brought him into the first team and it was because of him that he made his debut. Moreover, he also said that Hiddink was the one responsible for making him more than a footballer – a professional.
