Football Special Report: Arsenal probable starting eleven against Chelsea (Part 2)
With the limited options on the right side of the defence, Bacary Sagna would feature on the right flank. Emmanuel Eboue can be another player that can play for the Gunners on the right side but Arsene Wenger would go for experience this time and will definitely
play his veteran right back Bacary Sagna.
On the left flank, Gael Clichy will feature for the Gunners as his deputy Kieran Gibb is sidelined because of hamstring injury. Moreover, Gibbs started for Arsenal in midweek’s clash against Serbian Kings, so ‘The Professor’ would go certainly for Gael Clichy.
Clichy’s form was not up to expected standard since the start of the season, but it would be a great time for the Frenchman to perform and engrave his name in the starting eleven.
Midfielders
Arsene Wenger claims skipper and midfield maestro Cesc Fabregas has half a chance to appear against league leaders Chelsea. Arsenal skipper is suffering from hamstring which he sustained against Sunderland two weeks ago.
Arsenal talisman Cesc Fabregas is very vital to the team when they take on their fierce rivals Chelsea. However, his addition in starting eleven would all depend on his fitness. Over the years, Cesc Fabregas proved to be the most influential player for Arsenal.
His addition would surely change the course of game. Cesc Fabregas could prove to be a one man army against Chelsea.
Another player who has been in extraordinary form is Samir Nasri. Without a doubt, Samir Nasri would surely feature against Chelsea. Nasri is also being considered the only potential winner from the Gunners side. The young French midfielder is in tremendous
form. He has scored four times in his last two matches. Samir Nasri will feature on the right side of the midfield.
Furthermore, Alex Song will play as a defensive midfielder. Tomas Rosicky, Denilson, and Abou Diaby can also feature in the midfield; however, Tomas Rosicky played whole ninety minutes during midweek’s against Partizan. Along with that, Denilson and Diaby
are not fully fit and are unlikely to play against Chelsea.
Forwards
Robin van Persie, Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott are still missing through injuries which ensure Wenger’s new impressive signing Marouane Chamakh will lead the front line. The Moroccan international has been in tremendous form since his arrival at Emirates.
He has scored 2 goals in his last 5 appearances. Moreover, Chamakh is the most consistent player in the Gunners squad. It appears that it is a huge test for ex-Bordeaux striker to really prove his worth against dominant opposition like Chelsea.
Chamakh was signed from Bordeaux this season on a free transfer fee. His addition has really lifted Gunners’ front line. Chamakh has adjusted well at the Emirates and his extraordinary aerial ability has given Gunners a slight edge which has been missing
last season.
Andrei Arshavin will start on the left side of Gunners attack. The Russian skipper’s form has been quite unimpressive in this campaign. He will also need to ensure that he should performs at his peak, as many fans have grown weary with his often lazy attitude
on the field.
On the right wing, Wenger may look to utilize the talented youngster Jack Wilshere as a winger. The young English sensation has been immense this season and he is in scintillating forms.
