Football Special Report: Arsenal vs. Tottenham- Review and Player Ratings (Part 4)
Continued from part 3
Here are the player’s ratings of Tottenham Hotspurs.
Gomes 6.5
The Brazilian was definitely at fault for the first goal through a combination of poor decision-making and indecisiveness. The veteran goalie of Spurs was without a doubt under pressure in first half but as the game wore on his confidence increased and he
started to look calm. He could not do anything about the first half two goals but he made a terrific save of Fabregas curling shots in the dying stages of the match.
Alan Hutton 6
The veteran right back of Tottenham Hotspurs failed to cope with the trickery of Arshavin but he proved really vital during the set pieces. He looked more confident in the second half and eventually prevailed over Arshavin during the last minutes of the
match.
William Gallas 8.0
It was the return of former Arsenal player and captain and quite surprisingly, he was wearing the captain arm band from the Spurs side. William Gallas, commonly known as big game player, once again proved himself against his old club. He was one of the standout
performers for Tottenham. His commitment was never in doubt but there was an air of desperation to some of his challenges. He was rated as the Man of the Match by Tottenham manager, Harry Redknapp.
Younes Kaboul 7.5
He scored the last and decisive goal of the exciting derby match. He was a threat during set-pieces and that he pulled the trigger in the dying stages with his towering header that went past Fabianski inside Arsenal goal. He was all over the place at times
but his aggression and power were crucial in both penalty
Benoit Assou-Ekotto 6.5
The veteran left back of Spurs failed to cover Samir Nasri on the right flank and did not look comfortable at all. He grew more confidence as the game wore on and managed to hold on Walcott late in the day.
Aaron Lennon 5
He was ineffective in the first half and was rightly substituted by Harry Redknapp right after the first half with Jermaine Defoe.
Luka Modric 7
Luka Modric had a decent game by his standards; his long range shots did create some problems for Fabianski. He looked more composed in second half rather than first half. Modric’s intelligent promptings were at the heart of the stunning comeback. Over the
time, he has established himself as one of the vital players of Spurs.
Rafael Van der Vaart 8
Although, the Dutch man was not fully fit against Arsenal, yet he played his part and inspired his side to a 3-2 historic win. He assisted Gareth Bale for Spurs first goal and then he scored from a penalty spot to score the equaliser, before setting up Kaboul
for the winner.
Gareth Bale 8.5
Without a doubt, he was the best player of Spurs, once again. He was out done by Bacary Sagna most of the time, but he took his chances well and troubled Arsenal defence line on many occasions. He scored the first goal of the match with his famous left foot.
He looked more composed and energetic in second half of the game.
Roman Pavlyuchenko 7.5
The Russian forward was ineffective in the first half but become integral as the game wore on. He had a decent game in up front for Spurs, although he did not score but he was vital in starting every attacking move.
