Football Special Report: Aston Villa looking to make a shocking signing
Aston Villa are currently in the works and are contemplating what can be described as a shock move. The team is currently planning to move in for Juventus out of favour striker Amauri, according to media reports. The striker recently went public with the acceptance of the fact that he now had every intention to leave the Old Lady of Italian football and the experts are now weighing Aston Villa to be the front runners in capturing the player’s signature.
Amauri, who is currently thirty years old, would be available for as little as five million pounds if Villa are to make a move for him. However, if Aston Villa do manage to land the player, then it could go down as one of the best signings made by the team. The timing for this deal going through also seem to be perfect for the fact that Aston Villa are currently reported to be on the verge of losing John Carew, their local towering striker in the coming months and with one tall striker potentially on his way out, it seems like another could be on his way in.
Amauri has so far managed to play his entire professional career for teams in Italy, which means the player could find it unnatural or even rather odd to favour a move to a team in the English Premier League at this age. This is because Amauri is not currently on par with the pace and style of the game in England and if he was to move to the team, then he could risk losing major on field time due to his inexperience in the league.
The striker was largely tipped to be on his way out of Juventus this past summer transfer window, however the club decided to show some faith in the striker and he stayed on for a couple of months. But with the stay being rather useless, it now seems like it’s only a matter of time before the player decides to leave the team and the club decide to get rid of him.
On the other hand, if the player does managed to join Aston Villa, then it could potentially signal the rebirth of Villa. Of late, Villa have been struggling to keep up with the rest of the Premier League table and manager Gerard Houllier has even managed to sign former Arsenal veteran Robert Pires to try and keep the team rolling with the best in the league. The manager is currently looking to repeat the same success with Amauri and if he manages to do so, it could prove to not only be the clubs best signing ever, but also the managers.
