Football Special Report: Barcelona – a year on from the sixth title
The date 19th December 2010 marked the anniversary of Barcelona winning the sixth title during their historic run in 2009. It was exactly a year ago when Barcelona were able to lift the FIFA World Club Cup Championship trophy in Abu Dhabi. Since
then, Josep Guardiola’s men have gone forward to win two more trophies.
The Spanish Champions made history as they won six titles; meaning, they won all the competitions that they were a part of. They rounded off their outstanding run by winning the FIFA’s top club trophy for the first time in the history of the club. Before
that, they managed to win the Spanish La Liga, Spanish Cup, UEFA Champions League, Spanish Super Cup and European Super Cup.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan became the new FIFA World Club Cup Champions after they defeated their African opponents Mazembe 0-3 in the final match on Saturday. The Italian Champions took over Barcelona as the World Club Champions and the former Barcelona favourite, Samuel
Eto’o became the best player of the tournament.
Josep Guardiola’s first year in charge of Barcelona will always be remembered. The former Barcelona midfielder outshined each and every manager in the world as he won six trophies in a single season. After winning 2-6 against Real Madrid in their home ground
the Santiago Bernabeu, Josep Guardiola assured the Spanish La Liga title. Later, he went on to win the Spanish Cup after 11 years and later, his side defeated Manchester United 0-2 in Rome to win the UEFA Champions League. It was for the first time that a
Spanish team won a treble.
Two more trophies came to Barcelona’s way at the start of the next season. The Spanish Champions won the Spanish Super Cup and also the European Super Cup. It was all done with the help of Josep Guardiola’s “passing” theory. With this “trademark” Barcelona
passing, they have managed to succeed the Dream Team of Johan Cryuff that was present during the 90s and also it can be compared to the great Kubala’s side of the 50s.
Even though many Barcelona fans and critics thought that the Spanish Champions might suffer a backlash during the 2010, they still continued to win trophies. Despite the fact that they lost their outstanding striker Samuel Eto’o and also lost the newly signed
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029, they still continued to give out a good football display. However, they were expecting to lose a few trophies, they still marched forward and won another Spanish La Liga title with a record 99 points. Later, Josep Guardiola helped his side
win the Spanish Super Cup again as they faced Sevilla.
Now Barcelona are playing a new trio upfront. With the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296, Barcelona have competed all the tasks that are required. They are currently at the top of the table
and they are also the favourites to win not only the Spanish La Liga title but also the UEFA Champions League.
