Football Special Report: Chances of Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League – Part 5
After Javier Hernandez, Manchester United have the English striker Michael Owen in their team; though Owen still has to prove his worth for the Red Devils. His career at Liverpool was far more successful. Owen is simply an
injury prone player and he easily gets injured while playing. This is not only because of his fragility but also because he plays in the toughest league of the world, the English Premier League.
With Owen simply out of question, the rest comes on the shoulders of the experienced players like Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes. The two players have been a part of the Red Devils since the beginning; of course Giggs being
the first one to join while Scholes joined the English side after Ryan Giggs.
Ryan Giggs is the best left winger for the Red Devils and there is definitely no better replacement for him. He is experienced and never comes under pressure. He helps the team not only with pin point crosses but also with
his calm nature. He is at the right place at the right time and his goal against Newcastle United was just a tiny example of what he can do with the ball at his feet.
At such an old age, he is a sensational player and definitely one of the best players in the history of the English Premier League. Many players dream of accomplishing what he has done during his time as a footballer. Whenever
he is missing on the pitch, the team really lacks the momentum that he provides. To sum up his support for Manchester United, the fact that he has scored in all the Premier League seasons is enough to prove his worth for the Red Devils.
It is true that Ryan Giggs is simply irreplaceable but the Portuguese player Luis Nani has recently proved that he can be the successor of the legendary Giggs. Nani has learnt his moves and has done his homework. After copying
the former United star Cristiano Ronaldo, he has made his way to the top and has started scoring goals for the English club as well.
With Giggs playing for Manchester United, Nani plays as a right winger while Antonio Valencia is sidelined. Currently, Valencia is injured with a broken leg and he is not going to perform for Manchester United any longer.
The former Wigan player was famous for his pin point crosses which really helped Wayne Rooney in scoring goals, but with Valencia out, Nani can easily take his position on the right with Giggs playing on the left.
However, if Giggs is not playing for the Red Devils, then Nani plays as a left winger while the Korean star Park Ji Sung is the one who plays on the right. Ji Sung is not really an “amazing” player but he gets the job done
for the team. With his quick feet he outruns the oppositions’ defenders to help the team with crosses; but it is true that he cannot give good crosses and is often criticized about his accuracy.
In the centre midfield, Sir Alex Ferguson plays Paul Scholes. The name simply sums it up for him. The great English midfielder is experienced and accurate. There is definitely no one better than him on the bench and if Scholes
is gone, there is definitely no replacement for him. Currently Anderson and Darren Fletcher feature in the midfield if Scholes is not in the starting lineup, but it is true that the Red Devils don’t have a suitable replacement for him.
