Football Special Report: Chances of Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League – Part 6

Paul Scholes is definitely the best midfielder in Manchester United’s lineup and no one can replace him. Sir Alex Ferguson though, needs to find a replacement for the English star and at this age, he cannot even play all the games.
Darren Fletcher is a good defensive midfielder and he can get the job done for Manchester United. He is a great box to box player and can easily fall back to help the defensive line while also moving forward to help the team score
a few goals.
The defensive line up of Manchester United is definitely one of the best in the world. The captain Nemanja Vidic, is definitely one of the best defenders in the world and he is the leader of the team along with the defensive walls
of Manchester Untied.
Vidic is assisted by either Rio Ferdinand or Jonny Evans in the centre back position. Rio Ferdinand is one of the most experienced centre backs in the world but it is obvious that he has lost that touch at this age. However, Jonny
Evans is a great defender and can work well with Nemanja Vidic, and has helped the team concede less goals this year round.
At the left it is Patrice Evra; the French star is definitely one of the best left backs in the world. Evra has the pace and the passion that is required to play football. He can easily move up the left flank to help the strikers
with the assists that they require and the French full back moves forward and provides not only great crosses but also great through balls to help the team score goals.
John O’Shea or Gary Neville are the two options that can play as right backs. Rafael Di Silva is also a good option but the Brazilian kid still lacks the experience that is required to play big teams. He simply proved it last year
against Bayern Munich when he earned a red card which led to the team’s loss.
The right back position is the only department where the Red Devils need to be get strong and they definitely need to sign a right back in order to win more trophies. It is true that the centre backs and the defensive midfielders
fall towards the right to help the team but this cannot carry on throughout the match.
The goal stopper is Edwin Van der Saar and the Dutch player has proved a lot throughout his time in Manchester United. He has shown class and told the world what he is worth. He helped the team win the UEFA Champions League 2008
final when the match went down to penalties, and he was the one who saved the penalty kick from Nicolas Anelka to help his team win European glory.
Currently, Manchester United are a perfect “team.” It is true that individually they are not very strong but they have shown the world that individual skill is not required in order to win games and trophies. With great team play
they have won 11 titles already and Sir Alex Ferguson is definitely a manager who cannot be underestimated.
This season they have drawn a lot of matches but they are still on the number three spot in the Premier League and they are just behind the table toppers Chelsea and Manchester City. However, there is a lot of time left in the
Premier League to end and Manchester United always bounces back after January.
Manchester United are a great side and it is true that they are not the favourites to win the UEFA Champions League, this season, but no one can deny the fact that the chances of winning the UEFA Champions League for any team are
equal. All the teams this season are strong and everyone in Europe comes to take the trophy.
If Rooney finds his form back and United can find the “same old” team play again, they can definitely win the European title; however, the competition this season is very tough.
