Football Special Report: Comparison between English Premier League and La Liga (Part 2)
The English Premier League has always been under these four teams; Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea. Last year things changed, as competition rose and the top four on the table changed. The very consistent and famous
Liverpool lost its place and went three places down to seventh. While Tottenham Hotspurs, Aston Villa and Manchester City were the three teams who were competing for the Champions League spot.
English clubs have also dominated in the Europe’s most elite competition, UEFA Champions League. Over the years, there is always a single team from English Premier League in the semi finals of UEFA Champions. Moreover, 2008 UEFA
Champions League Final was played between both the English teams Manchester United and Chelsea, which is very rare.
All in all, English League has the highest competition as a low graded team like Fulham was able to reach the final of the Europa Cup last season. Fulham also thrashed the 23 Italian Title winners Juventus at their home ground.
The Spanish La Liga, on the other hand, is a two horse race. It's either Real Madrid or Barcelona who wins the title, but watching the Spanish League can be compared to watching a circus. So many superstars featuring in this league
and you know what is going to happen, but it's still fun to watch how these two teams toy around with the smaller teams.
The Spanish League has less competition as the two teams have won most of the titles during their whole campaign in the Spanish La Liga. The 9 times European Champions, Real Madrid hold 31 titles with them while Barcelona are the
side that won 21 and are trying to reach the Real Madrid.
The Spanish La Liga has recently been out on the boom as the Spaniards won the FIFA World Cup 2010. The whole Spanish team that performed during the FIFA World Cup 2010 are a part of the Spanish La Liga. However, Fernando Torres
was the only player who does not play in the Spanish League and he was a flop in the Spanish side back in South Africa.
Real Madrid has always been a rich club and their heritage can be compared to no other club in the world. The nine times European Champions recently signed all the "amazing" players in the world and they have currently bought almost
all the talent from all around the world.
In the same team, they play Cristiano Ronaldo along with the Brazilian number 10, Kaka. Both the players are rated as the best players on the planet and they were also in the nominees of the best player of the world. They also
hold the German sensation, Mesut Ozil along with the Spanish number 1, Iker Casillas and the Spanish right back, Sergio Ramos. Not only do they have the best players in the world, they also own the best Coach in the world and that is the Special One, Jose
Mourinho.
Therefore, the English League and the Spanish League cannot really be compared because of the different tactics they apply. The English League clubs mostly believe in making their own players, while the Spanish clubs try to buy
the best players from all around the world and like to play them on their side. Currently, Real Madrid has the most expensive squad; however, it is Manchester City that follows when it comes down to the worth of "first team players."
Moreover, all the nominees for the best players of the world were from Spanish La Liga. Xavi, Iniesta , Messi, Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo were all from La Liga and Messi was nominated as the best player.
