Football Special Report: David Villa does not care if he is not finding the back of the net
The newly signed Barcelona striker David Villa has always been in a good goal scoring form in every season that he has spent in the Spanish League. Starting from the Spanish side Sporting Gijon, David Villa started to score goals and from
the past four to five seasons, the Spaniard has been consistently scoring goals.
David Villa at the moment can be summed up in two words, perfect striker. The Spanish player knows where to be at the right time and he can simply be there with the help of his quick feet. David Villa has everything that it takes to be a striker, the heading
ability, speed and also the power to stand still when tackles are flying onto him. The former Valencia striker is also a two footed player and by being ambidextrous, he simply adds to his value as he can simply shoot the ball from both the feet. His first
goal against Sevilla simply showed that his left foot is exactly as strong as the right foot as the ball curled into the back of the net.
Before joining Barcelona, David Villa featured in the FIFA World Cup 2010 which was probably the most memorable event of his life. While performing for the Spanish side, David Villa found the back of the net five times; which made him the highest goal scorer
alongside Thomas Mueller and Wesley Sneijder. Even though the Spanish striker did not win the golden boot award, he still helped the team reach the final of the tournament and also helped them win even though he could not score against Netherlands in the final
match.
Recently, while playing for Barcelona, it was seen that he was not finding the back of the net too often. He was being offside quite a lot of times and it was for the first time in four years that the Spanish striker found it difficult to score goals. Even
with players like Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi on his side, he just simply couldn’t find the target even though he had so many opportunities in front of goal. In the last match against the Danish Champions FC Copenhagen, David Villa got
a perfect opportunity to put his team in front but his shot only found the wood work.
With many critics pointing towards him, David Villa came out and gave an interview about his goal scoring form. He reminded everyone that even though he did not find the net for his new club, he does not really care. He said as long as the team is scoring
goals, it is totally okay for him. He told the press that despite the fact that he has not been scoring goals, it is true that he assisted many of them and his team has been winning matches in order to stay on top.
He added on to his comments by saying that he simply loves the way Barcelona plays and he likes how he is being positioned by Pep Guardiola. However, he said that defending on the left wing is always difficult for him and even though it was hard to play
in that position for Barcelona and Spain, his coaches Vincente Del Bosque and Josep Pep Guardiola really helped him out.
To sum up the press conference, David Villa said that he will try his best to score goals just like he did twice during the game against Sevilla. He also said that the players are not really tired and they are fresh but they are just finding it difficult
to score goals and they are trying their best to win points in order to stay on top of their game and the points table.
