Football Special Report: English Football Association on a managerial hunt
England Football association have been on a hunt for a new manager after Fabio Capello has publicly said that he will quit, as the boss of England after the European championships 2012.
This time, the football association has decided to find an Englishman who will lead their team to the next world cup. The priority of counting on an English manager came after players complained about the communication gap between them and Fabio Capello.
John Terry and Frank Lampard openly criticized him for not playing Joe Cole their Chelsea team mate which added fire in a row between him and the players.
Don Fabio has already stated if England fails to qualify for next Euro cup, he will pave way for other candidates but he should not forget that this time he will be sacked if he fails to deliver.
Though there is quite sometime, in the appointment of next England manager but English FA don’t want to waste time and have started to shortlist the candidates who adjust in their criteria. The need of hour is to give England current manager a much needed
backing but FA officials have other ideas in mind they are on a constant search for an English manager. The new name which has come up is former England boss Steve McClaren, who is currently working with German Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg.
Sir Trevor Brooking, who is the director football development with FA has admitted that Steve McClaren is very much in contention for the job and the dice could be thrown his way if he continues to impress with his European pedigree with Wolfsburg.
Previously, Harry Redknapp, Roy Hodgson, Martin O’ Neil and Sam Allardyce were thrown into the mix of candidates. This new saga is getting more exciting with each passing day, as who will get the opportunity to be at the helm of affairs with the English
Team.
English FA officials knows the worth of Capello, so they are planning to get maximum out of his experience by appointing English officials as his assistant so they can learn from his astute guidance.
Capello had earlier desired to be the manager of England for a long time with mission of guiding them to European championship and world cup glory. His ambition of taking England to a world cup triumph shattered badly as England were kicked out by Germany
in the knockout phase.
There were several reasons which all contributed in the demise of English team in South Africa. First, the row between Wayne Bridge and John Terry broke out on to media with Terry having an affair with Wayne’s ex girlfriend. That didn’t go well at all with
Wayne and he opted to pull out from the quadrennial spectacle. Fabio decided to strip John Terry from England’s captaincy and handed over to Liverpool Talisman Steven Gerrard.
The divorce between Ashley and Cherryl Cole came up as another bullet which struck in the heart of English team. Fabio failed to lift the team when his leadership was badly needed. The leading events to the world cup didn’t help Fabio Capello, who already
had Rio Ferdinand out of the team with an injury just before the biggest tournament of all.
Fabio Capello has never gone trophy less in his assignment but it seems that England’s failure will remain as a scar on his glittering managerial career. He was on the verge of being sacked but FA decided to keep faith in him but his time is soon coming
to an end and he should finish his career on a high. This could only happen if he can manage to win Euro cup in 2012.
